And I think Smith's comments are at best embarrassing, more I would say pathetic.

Feeling the pressure....absolutely no need for his guff against our play. Poor man’s Allardyce comments

Smith continued: “I’m a little bit disappointed and frustrated because the first half was as good as we’ve played all season
If that was as good as they have played in their games to date then they are in for a long, long season!

I remember beating Brentford in our last promotion season when we put on a scintillating display, especially in the first half. Smith never gave us an ounce of credit on that occasion. The new Pearson methinks.

He's struggling and, as said above, feeling the pressure.
So he's trying to deflect the blame and basically make excuses.

It's very common with new PL managers.

5 points lost in the last 10 mins of games in six days will have that effect and take its toll.

Villa have a serious issue if they persist with the lummox they bought to play centre forward.

They will have to continue to rely on McGinn, Grealish and El Ghazi to get their goals and they will dry up once they get sussed out.

They haven't beaten us, Bournemouth and West Ham at home which doesn't bode well for them and Smith knows it.

I love the notion of the stop/start nonsense being Burnley's fault. Feigned injury after feigned injury merely to disrupt any momentum we were picking up. How many times did they surround the referee ?
It was not quite a must-win for them but they blew it. Smith will be gone by January if Villa's huge investment looks like being wasted.
Smith's bullshit only confirms what a genius Dyche is.

Spot on. If ever there was a performance to highlight the strength of the opposition it was that night at Brentford...scintillating

Extremely poor comments from Smith there. You'd have thought he'd have mentioned Wesley's near death experience whilst we were trying to kill all his other players?! I don't think Smith will see the season out?!

I think you're all spot on about Smith and I agree with you Goodclaret I don't think he'll see the season out, even if he is a Villa fan. I've read a few of the West Midlands papers he comes across as an even bigger whinger in those.

Wesley going down when the ball hardly touched him was horrific. The way he laid on his back with his arms flat out made me think he may be properly injured, however the way he sprinted back on made me realise he was just blagging!!! He was trying to kill Tarks all afternoon and got away with it time and again.
