Matt Lowton
Took a bit of a kicking, from some posters, on here yesterday. Blaming him for their first because his cross hit a defender and they broke on us.
As the ball crosses the halfway line we had 6 back defending 3, including the guy with the ball. Look elsewhere for your scapegoat guys.

Re: Matt Lowton
Excellent cross from Matt for the equaliser.
Re: Matt Lowton
Anyone trying to blame Lowton for the first goal is just trying to deflect the criticism away from Pieters.
Re: Matt Lowton
No point doing the blame game. We got a point away from home and that's a plus for me. I hate VAR but it helped us yesterday.

Re: Matt Lowton
Occasionally his crosses do hit the mark , his is a position we need to upgrade most definitely ,but until then he’s fine

Re: Matt Lowton
There is no doubt Pieters was to blame and to a smaller extent Mee for the first goal. Lowton played a poor ball in the final third, doesn’t mean we should concede from it
Re: Matt Lowton
Done a great job for us, but I'd let Bardsley go this summer and be looking to sign a first choice right back and let Lowton be cover. We have to keep looking to gradually improve our starting XI where we can. Right back and centre mid are the 2 obvious places to start for me.

Matt Lowton is fine and I will be happy to let SD decide on which players and positions we need to strengthen

There doesn't have to be a scapegoat, why is there the need to point the blame? Is there something wrong?

Sometimes we just get beat. Or draw. Or let a goal in. It happens
A draw at villa who need a win and especially after being ahead a couple of times, in front of a fairly hostile atmosphere is a good result imo.

Agree totally but read the match day thread and both Lowton and Pieters are hammered. It’s become the norm, sadly.NL Claret wrote:There doesn't have to be a scapegoat, why is there the need to point the blame? Is there something wrong?

Re: Matt Lowton
Every week in the PL mistakes are made by players-even the best. Football would be boring if not. Need to look at the bigger picture and what these players bring to the game
Lowton has a mistake in him but he can also create as he showed yesterday, and he is suited to the way we play. We need a second RB in Summer so we have competition for places-hopefully this time a younger player than Bardsley or Pieters

Re: Matt Lowton
I think Lowton and Pieters are fine. Yes they both make mistakes and Pieters had a nightmare 10 minutes just before half time, but overall their contributions are good. We are a mid table Premier League side at present with these players in the side. I doubt we are going to be able to improve on them to be honest without spending a fortune, which is unlikely.
Re: Matt Lowton
I don't tend to bother reading the posts (especially player ratings) much due to the level of sh!te posted, it's usually a case of if the UTC posters likes / dislikes a certain player for whatever reason. It's gone quiet on Chris Wood as he's scoring, not sure why some dislike him. Excellent goal scoring record in the PL , then again we signed him from Leeds.Tricky Trevor wrote:Agree totally but read the match day thread and both Lowton and Pieters are hammered. Re: Matt Lowton
We're on a Burnley FC message board. People are obviously going to discuss our players. If some people think with our millions of pounds we can improve on Matt Lowton I don't see the issue. Would be very dull if every thread was about how wonderful all our players are, how amazing Dyche and the Board are etc etc.NL Claret wrote:There doesn't have to be a scapegoat, why is there the need to point the blame? Remember “UTC posters” never ever criticise the club. Just cheerlead all that time or talk about Brexit.NL Claret wrote:I don't tend to bother reading the posts (especially player ratings) much due to the level of sh!te posted, it's usually a case of if the UTC posters likes / dislikes a certain player for whatever reason. You definitely need VAR when you have the likes of Mason with the whistle....beddie wrote:No point doing the blame game. We got a point away from home and that's a plus for me. I hate VAR but it helped us yesterday.

Inept man. Totally biased. Targeted Barnes very early.Hibsclaret wrote:You definitely need VAR when you have the likes of Mason with the whistle....

Thanks Swizzley, I don't think social media and football is for me anymore. I'll leave it to you and jrbbfc, I do admire his dedication to UTC and his negativity.Swizzlestick wrote:Remember “UTC posters” never ever criticise the club. Just cheerlead all that time or talk about Brexit.
NL will log in again in a week or so.
Bye for now.

Of course we are. It’s the degree of malice players get for a mistake that tics me off.jrgbfc wrote:We're on a Burnley FC message board. People are obviously going to discuss our players. Re: Matt Lowton
its no coincidence that wood's form has improved since mcniel has played. Early last season we were not getting behind teams but we now get plenty of crosses in for wood to feed on. Our last 4 goals at least have come from the wings. 3 left wing and 1 right.NL Claret wrote:I don't tend to bother reading the posts (especially player ratings) much due to the level of sh!te posted, it's usually a case of if the UTC posters likes / dislikes a certain player for whatever reason. Re: Matt Lowton
Lowton for me is a huge problem and Hendrick consistently has to help him out much more than he should have to. Like Cork he is a little lightweight and these 2 positions are a weakness imho.
