Psalm 21 (Crimond)

Exactly. Also, whenever I hear the words "bread of heaven, feed me til I want no more" it reminds me vividly of lowly Newport County coming to The Turf in the mid-sixties for a cup tie. As they belted it out one of the impassioned Taffs ran out onto the field, planted a leek on the centre spot then fell to his knees and "salamied" to it til a scuffer walked part way out and told him to bugger-off. As with many things, you never forget the moment! That song is, as you say, "rousing".

" Jerusalem " , " How great thou Art " and " Guide me, O thou great Redeemer " would be my hymns of choice ...

A man who walks on glass...
Follows in
The footsteps of Willis.

...And if he
Plays his cards
Alright
He'll star
In Die Hard 7.

It's based on the hymn 'Teach me my God and King' but for a more modern audience... :-)

Good choices, but I'm afraid Jerusalem isn't a hymn, -well not in a Christian sense anyway
(Neither Blake nor Parry intended it to be).
It seems a perfectly reasonable thing to sing in church however, so long as you understand that it's neither jingoistic nor nationalistic.

O Lord, please don't burn us,
Don't grill us or toast your flock,
Don't put us on a barbecue,
Or simmer us in stock,
Don't braise or bake or boil us,
Or stir-fry us in a wok.
Oh please don't lightly poach us,
Or baste us with hot fat,
Don't fricassee or roast us,
Or boil us in a vat,
And please don't stick thy servants, Lord,
In a Rotissomat.

The Lord is my shepherd I'd have in non-league. Its a complete dirge. Too many verses and invariably played too slow.
If I'm organising a funeral for someone (part of my job occasionally) I usually just let some friends pick as long as that one can be vetoed.

My favourite is St Patrick's breastplate. Advent Hymns are the best, but in the popularist 2010s they get jettisoned for carols after about Dec 2.
