John McGinn

Would be ideal for Burnley and would fit in well as he puts 100% into his game and also knows where the back of the net is

He and Grealish ran their midfield

Rumours of Man Utd taking an interest in him

Man U took an interest in him and were quoted 50m in the summer.

Cant remember who it was but a poster on here was saying we should of signed him long before Villa did. He obviously got shot down by the know it alls on this site that the Scottish league was far inferior and no one north of the border would improve us

Marvellous Nakamba for them looked a good player and the type of midfielder we should have been trying to sign for the last 2 years

He was head and shoulders the best player on the park. Will be playing for a Champions League club next season.

McGinn and Grealish were simply much better than Cork and Westwood yesterday. They are better players and ran the the game for Villa.

McGinn was everything I hope McNeil will aspire to become. I was very impressed with him and Grealish.

If we had McGinn and Grealish in our midfield, supplying our front men, we would have a very, very good team indeed.

Grealish is more interested in showboating rather than playing the right pass to one of his strikers.
He has no idea when to release the ball.

When he was in the Hibs midfield, he looked tidy but not fast enough for the prem.

He wasn't even their best midfielder.

He's come on a ton since then

McGinn was the man.

Grealish was that boy in your school team, who thought that he should do everything, because he had decided he was the best player!

Grealish, consequently, overcooked everything.

Its not just in school teams you get players like that. The sort that complains you didnt throw the ball to them at a throw-in even though they were closely marked and there were a couple of other teammates in better positions. The sort that insists on taking all the free kicks near goal despite there being a couple of better dead-ball strikers in the team.

Let's see how good McGinn is in a couple of months when he's sick of being pressed out of games. It's all very new, very free at the moment.
That will change.

Yes there's no doubt the scouting reports will highlight him as Villa's biggest goal threat as the lummox Wesley will not contribute too many from what i saw in the flesh yesterday and the few live Villa games i've seen on the box.

And with Salah and Aguero we'd have an even better team! :D

McGinn was the best player on the park. I’ve been very impressed with him this season. Grealish flatters to deceive. He’s a very tidy footballer with technical ability, no doubt about that, but he makes the wrong decision far too often and holds on to the ball for too long unnecessarily.

McGinn would be a great addition to our team. I don’t think Dyche would fancy having a ‘luxury’ like Grealish though - and certainly not in a 4-4-2.

McGinn surviving a "frenzied javelin attack" (well sort of) by our very own Steven Thompson a few years back and despite his injuries sustained, he's grown into an excellent player!! Wonder if he ever has flashbacks!!? :(

I heard a Villa fan on the radio last weekend suggesting it’s time Grealish was dropped. As someone said above, he’s the playground Pele that tries to do it all himself rather than bring team mates into play in better positions - as their captain he should be working on that more than anything.

Just signed a new deal.

He is probably one of their cheapest buys in recent years, and arguably their best.

Still only 24, and is everything we want/wanted from Robbie Brady.

Grealish reminds me of Cochrane. Potentially brilliant.

I was thinking, watching the game yesterday, how superb we would be as a team if we had a midfielder who could carry the ball up the pitch like McGinn or, whilst understanding the "showboater" criticism, Grealish. With our defensive strength and our strikers excellent chance conversion ratio a slightly more creative midfield is maybe the next step....and I like Cork and Westwood. Hendrick is maybe the nearest thing we have to a ball carrying midfielder...when he gets going he can be a smooth runner with the ball but doesn't seem to do it enough.

McGinn was by far their best player yesterday.

Grealish is one of them players who looks good because he carries the ball into space....thought he was good at playing the ball to the wide man - pretty much a more dribbling version of Westwood.

Did anybody else think that Grealish also tried to get Barnes sent off right before half time - looked a dive - admittedly from a long way away in our end.

Also thought that Mings looked like an accident waiting to happen. Shows how much we are lacking in the defensive department if he is getting into our international squad

I saw McGinn a few years back at a Hibs game and he looked absolutely outstanding. Not surprised to see him rise to the top.

McGinn was superb yesterday and has a bigger future. Grealish is a show pony. All dance and balletic nimbleness as per Ronaldo, with a big difference, no end product. Villa are always looking for him as their talisman but actually its to their detriment because simply put he isn't good enough at this level. I like them ( Claret colleagues etc..) , their fans and the set up. Good luck but you need a rethink.

Wasnt terribly impressed. He's good but not quite as good as he thinks he is. Certainly falls over a lot and looks to the ref for a foul. Probably will end up at west ham but not a top 6 club

Only cost about 7 million from Hibs I think. Shows that the players are out there if we were willing to look outside our bubble a bit more.
