Re: Brendan Rogers
They lost maguire for 80m. As well as money from winning the league, champions league games and additional sponsorship. And havent really spent THAT much. They replaced Maguire from within. Alongside evans who cost 3m.Wile E Coyote wrote:seems good, but yet another with huge financial clout to fight his fight.
Barnes has been promoted from within. They got vardy for next to nothing. Schmeichaels been there years.
Granted Tielemans was a few quid. But hes an outstanding player.

Re: Brendan Rogers
Leicester don't always run on a tight budget, they don't need too, as proven by their owners converting just over £100 million of debt into shares 5 years ago.
However it's worth noting that they do quite well with player sales, £100 million plus for Mahrez, Drinkwater and Kante alone and they recruit replacements at very good prices where they can or promote from within as pointed out by CFC.
They'll also have lucrative sponsorship deals in place because their owners are well connected at a reasonable guess.
Yes their debt is to their owners and we've seen how that works out in the long-term if things go pear shaped with owners, but that's a long way off happening, if at all because they'll be a more attractive proposition for potential owners than clubs like Burnley.

Was a great job for whoever took it. Squad full of good, young players and decent backing in the transfer market. He'd achieved just about all he could at Celtic as well.cricketfieldclarets wrote:But a very good manager. Was surprised he took the leicester job. Didnt think he could push them on. How wrong.

Re: Brendan Rogers
Proving to be a top manager. He's turned Leicester into a potential top six team in no time. I wouldn't be surprised if they came knocking again come January to give them that final push.

Re: Brendan Rogers
They don't really have much debt to their owners. As you say, a lot of it was converted to equity so that removes the risk of it being called in if things go pear-shaped.GodIsADeeJay81 wrote:Leicester don't always run on a tight budget, they don't need too, as proven by their owners converting just over £100 million of debt into shares 5 years ago.

Re: Brendan Rogers
Rogers is an excellent manager , with a very good track record . Bizarrely Rogers used to stand 6”1 in his stocking feet until a freak accident involving his knee ended his playing days at 20. In a desperate bid to save his career Brendan had a pioneering operation to remove 7” from each leg. While the op was technically a success ,Rogers found his knees were now his shins ! and took the sensible decision to head into management .
