Great season ahead
This is going to be a fantastic season.
Arsenal, Spurs, ManU & Chelsea all with varying problems and showing no consistency.
Liverpool & ManC streets ahead of the rest but places are up for grabs this year.
Let’s get amongst them.

Why not? They are struggling for any sort of consistency and 3 of the 4 are playing kids. Only Spurs aren’t and god knows what is going on there.ClaretAndJew wrote:Get amongst Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea etc?

Re: Great season ahead
Would say Leicester will be among them and might sniff 3rd, Arsenal look good one week then fail the next but would say 4th is between them Chelsea and Man U. We will hopefully be in a battle with the mid table teams and be around where we are now 52 points would be my guess

Not at all. My point is anybody can get amongst them. Which is why I feel we, the public, have a great season ahead.fidelcastro wrote:Grandeur Delusions Of

No way we will be in the top 10. Anything above 15th will be an excellent season

Re: Great season ahead
Cos I dont think we have either a good enough team or a strong enough squad to get near the top 10. I think we'll finish 15th or 16th but I could see us pushing maybe 12th or 13th if things go well.Hibsclaret wrote:Why?

Re: Great season ahead
So the squad is worse than 17/18 or early 2019 when we were 7th best in the league

Re: Great season ahead
I think we had a better first 11 in 17/18 and the squad was stronger in some areas although weaker overall. We came 15th last year and the squad this season isnt much difference so I would say that is a better benchmark.
Last year in an early season thread people were saying we would be top 10, top 8 and a few predicted top 6. I said we were more likely to be bottom 6 and anything above 15th would be a good season and got the exact same response as you are giving me today from lots of posters.
Well I was proved to be correct then and lets see next may which half of the table we end up in cos I am confident it wont be the top half

Re: Great season ahead
The same people that are predicting Wolves for top 6/7 this season. The Europe stuff was always going to be a problem so we were never likely to be up near 7th last season. It was all an unknown.
What is factual is that for the 2nd half of last season we were the 7th best team in the prem along with the full previous season. The squad and first eleven have more experience and are better than 2 years ago so I think we should expect to finish in the top 10.

Re: Great season ahead
Ok its a thread about people giving their opinions on how we'll do and Ive given mine. Lets not go on and on and ruin the thread because you disagree with me. If you are in need of an argument go and talk to yourself in a mirror.

Re: Great season ahead
I just asked why you thought what you thought. Who’s arguing?
I agree with the op and suggested over a month ago that there were at least 2 places up for grabs in the top 6. Should be a great season.

Re: Great season ahead
We look stronger than we have since that great season, but that was still a complete one off.
We look a decent but mid table (10th-16th) mid table side.
But if we can keep everyone fit and maintain the scoring levels (10 goals already) and keep this ability to come back from behind then we could be higher.
But 7th is out of our reach

Re: Great season ahead
The 7th season was likely a one off but we never controlled games at the Emirates like we did this season

There seems to be an awful lot of wishful thinking from some posters.

Re: Great season ahead
Seen no reason to doubt my pre-season prediction that we'll finish in the top 10.
Re: Great season ahead
The reason we did so 'poorly' last season was because of the first half of the season. We've improved on the side we had then because Pope is better than Hart and McNeil is better than Lennon.Devils_Advocate wrote:I think we had a better first 11 in 17/18 and the squad was stronger in some areas although weaker overall. Re: Great season ahead
There is a long way to go and I am not suggesting we will be one of these teams but I can honestly see an "outsider" breaching the top 4 and possibly another 1 possibly 2 finishing inside the top 6-7.
At the moment United look pretty shocking, Chelsea look there for the taking and Spurs are well out of form at the moment. Arsenal are as erratic as ever.
We all remember what it's like when your team gets on a roll and the confidence starts flowing. So it's entirely possible that this could be another of those "one-off" seasons like both us and Leicester have experienced recently.
Like I said though, long way to go and time for some of the big clubs to change manager or bring in reinforcements in January.
