I don't hold much hope but it would be funny if she mopped the floor with Johnson.

She will be putting questions to Raab. She can't get asking a few questions wrong surely.

Yes. Or been able to put two and two together. That Johnson will be at his party conference delivering his keynote speech. And the leader of the opposition doesn't ask the questions at PMQs if the PM has been replaced for that session.

Big risk this

She gets loads of abuse that is completely bang out of order, but she's also very poor when the pressure is on.

The lack of suitable replacements and her 100% loyalty to Corbyn is the only reason she's where she is.

Still, she'd have to go some to be as bad as the current govt but still.....

Her crime is that of being unskilled in front of the media...nothing more...unless being a passionate advocate for the rights of ordinary people and a champion of the disadvantaged has now become a crime.
Nothing will ever show how the feeble minded proles can have their views controlled by the Murdoch's and their like more than Abbott and Corbyn.

Haha. That's a better joke - I think most people reading that will think that's rich coming from you. Perhaps you're feeling over sensitive this morning, whereas I thought you would appreciate being educated on the point and knowing the facts.

Good morning, IT. I wonder if you are spending too much time on Washington politics to have known that if the PM is unavailable for PMQs it goes ahead with a deputy - and the opposition leader also passes his/her role to a front bench deputy.

Good luck, Diane Abbott.

Her crime is that of being unskilled in front of the media...nothing more...unless being a passionate advocate for the rights of ordinary people and a champion of the disadvantaged has now become a crime.
Also the "crime" of hypocrisy- sending her son to fee-paying school having previously (and since) advocated that private education is wrong for other people
Also the "crime" of making sweeping derogatory statements about whole races (considered to be racism by many) - "white people like playing divide and rule"

Her innumeracy is a big problem for her too. Lots of people dont have strong numeracy skills but hers are particularly poor for somebody who needs to present/respond to facts and figure.

She's done some good things too of course, including voting against the Iraq war and you can't really hold it against her that she was caught (against TfL rules) drinking Mojito on the tube a while back.

She’s absolutely dreadful. Even if I was a Labour voter I wouldn’t want her anywhere near the party leadership.

I am confident she will be able to ask some questions.

She is a very intelligent lady, who would easily out us all in our place, if necessary.

To be fair in modern politics you have to be able to play the media. That’s the game. It shouldn’t be but it is.

Shes no Priti Patel in the looks and oratory department
How a child of East African immigrants became a Tory is another issue but shes nailed on to be PM when Boris finally gets stabbed in the back
Labour need to ditch Corbyn and Abbott now and get a leader who can win an election
Corbyn will get slaughtered at a General Election
I have and always will vote Labour as a teacher why would I vote any other way?
We have a decent MP who deserves my support despite the fool trashing Labour votes with his inane policies

I understand the East African Asians, deported from Uganda by Idi Amin were a particularly entrepreneurial lot, many of them went on to establish successful businesses ... I can see how she could be a Tory.

Is there any limit Corbyn can reach with his " inane policies " that would lead you to reconsider your voting intention ?

Well, I don't rate her as a political performer, that's for sure, but one thing that she is not, is "thick".
They don't give away degrees at Cambridge.
She had potential , and at she's well past her sell-by date now.

Whilst that's certainly true in Diane Abbott's case it does happen. Prince Edward got a degree from there and it's well known that he isn't the sharpest tool in the box.

Are you one of her constituents? If not then you're perhaps not best qualified to judge.
As I've said, I don't rate her at her current level, but she seems to have been successful on many other levels.
Considering her background she's done remarkably well, I would think.

As the first black person to represent their party at PMQ's she should be proud of her achievements, and it's incredible that's the case in 2019. Good luck to her.

Dianne Abbott was born to Jamaican parents in Paddington, London, in 1953. Her father was a welder and her mother was a nurse.[2] She has stated in interviews that both of her parents left school at the age of 14.[3] She attended Harrow County School for Girls (a grammar school), and then Newnham College, Cambridge, where she read history.[4] At Cambridge, she was tutored by historian Simon Schama.[5]

After university she became an administration trainee (a fast track route to senior positions in HM Civil Service)[6] at the Home Office (1976 to 1978), and then a Race Relations Officer at the National Council for Civil Liberties (1978 to 1980).

Like I said...she could put us back in our box, if she chose.

Welk done to her today. A fine achievement, which few can actually match.

What inane policies? You sound as though you’ve just taken that from a tabloid, or from a conversation with an angry Blairite. No substance.

Patel got sacked from cabinet for exceeding her brief by a crazy margin, and has been made a fool of publicly over her extreme right wing views. No contest.

Oh, come on! Corbyn wants to raise the minimum wage, scrap universal credit, scrap OFSTED and tax the richest people in the country accordingly... I mean, what a monster! :o

If it's some sort of veiled moral point you're trying to make, then I should remind everyone reading this, that you stated on another thread, that you believe the minimum wage in this country is TOO HIGH!

Diane and Michael Portillo went to Harrow County Girl and Boys school around the same time as both born in 1953 although Michael would have been a year ahead (May 53 and Di Sept 53).
He was ot one time to the right of the Tory party and Diane is to the left of the labour party and both went to Cambridge.
Always thought they were good on This Week
