Liberals are better people, study shows

Post by Imploding Turtle » Wed Oct 02, 2019 8:43 am

Reductively put, the more liberal you are the more you give a **** about people who aren't your family relative to how much of a **** you give about your family. And the more Conservative you are the more of a **** you are towards people who aren't your family, relative to how much of a **** you are to your family.

Some people are sound, some are dicks - you can spot it from primary school. Their politics just depends on which echo chamber they end up living in.

But they do give a **** about facts. It was 37% of the electorate voted leave, even less of the population.

Not really, unless you accept that the reverse is also true. But even then still not really.

I think it’s fair to say that some of the less Liberal on here do not bother to hide the low-wattage of their humanity under a bushel.

Liberals - where they lack in being able to accept democracy, they more than make up for in self-aggrandizement.

Let's just say it says no such thing.

Let's also say that people who are always quick to denigrate and use insulting language of other people are not "liberal."

Oh, and it does not refer to political parties in the UK who have chosen to "wrap themselves" in one political label or another.

Apart from that, thanks for posting, IT.

"Liberals are not better people but waste moral regard on rocks and aliens, study shows"

Direct from Study:

Overall, these results suggest conservatives’ moral circles are more likely to encompass human beings, but not other animals or lifeforms whereas liberals’ moral circles are more likely to include nonhumans (even aliens and rocks) as well.

these findings demonstrate that liberals and conservatives differ not in the total amount of moral regard per se but rather they differ in their patterns of how they distribute their moral regard.

This reductive lark is fun!

Good to see you’ve finally got a handle upon how to spell that word, Wrongo. Interesting that you’ve gone for the American English spelling. Is that in homage to the great self-agrandiser himself, Donald Trump? He’s got some funny ideas about Democracy, too.

Come on lets keep this thread on track. Its plain to see that liberal minded folk in the main tend to be better people and now we are seeing study's back this up.

Not sure what there is to discuss in such an open and shut case but this is the topic if anybody does wish to pass comment

This is all true. Just as long as we accept Turtle's wording of "Reductively put" to mean "I think this means that...."

So as long we can all agree on this, it's all absolutely true.

But then, reductively put of course, that also means that this thread is just TurtleBoy saying "As a liberal I think I'm nicer than you."

And we all knew he thought that anyway.

That's put it in a nutshell.

This is a fallacy.

It's perfectly acceptable to spell words -ize in English and it always has been. No need to apologize to Ringo though, it's all horses for courses here.

Congratulations! For once , you haven't not gone all Sam Allardyce and gone Hoofdebate with your usual route one method of simply claiming I'm mentally ill!!!

Talking of which , this was reported in today's independent -

FIRST CASE OF BREXIT PSYCHOSIS REPORTED!!!

The Brexit referendum caused a man to have an acute psychotic illness, with him suffering a serious of hallucinations and delusions, a doctor has said.

This is the first reported case of Brexit-triggered psychosis, according to a new report which warns political upheaval can take a serious toll on mental health.

The male patient, who is in his forties, found his mental health “deteriorated rapidly” shortly after the results of the EU referendum. He also became increasingly worried about racial incidents and, after being admitted to a psychiatric ward, said he felt “ashamed” to be British.

Dr Muhammad Zia Ul Haq Katshu, who treated the patient, wrote: “His wife reported that since the EU referendum results were declared on 24 June 2016, he started spending more time putting his thoughts across on social media.

“He found it difficult to reconcile with the political events happening around him. He became increasingly worried about racial incidents. His sleep deteriorated.”

Once admitted, the unnamed patient was described as agitated, attempting to “burrow” through the hospital floor with his hands to “get the hell out of this place”. He believed he was being spied on and that talks on the radio were directed at him.

The patient later said: “I was looking at the electoral map of voting for the EU. I am in a constituency that reflects an opinion that is not for me.”

I'm having an Eminem, Stan, moment.

A good thing that he went over and met, but to announce via twitter that the US would unilaterally stop the military exercises with South Korea - when he'd had nothing substantive back - was silly, annoyed the South Koreans, and made him look stupid when North Korea didn't follow through on their commitments. The meeting could have been the beginning of a serious thawing of relations, but it doesn't seem to have been followed through.

Care for people who don't care for you?

Whenever I show the slightest bit of courtesy to anyone at all, they immediately take it as aggrandizement for themselves at your expense, as if any care for others was according to a perceived lower human status of me to them, along the lines of give an inch and they take a yard.

100%.

I was liberal-minded, I've given so much time to others in my life and just got hell back.

I feel robbed. Mugged.

The whole country has been robbed and mugged by foreigners at our behest, hence Brexit.
