Strange wooden needle ????

Post by Bosscat » Thu Oct 03, 2019 3:10 pm

Found this evil looking wooden needle in my wifes sewing box... she hasn't a clue... but it came from the Mother in Law after she passed away.

Its aproximately 10" long ...

Thought I would ask the "Sages of Up the Clarets" their ideas....

Sensible answers please ;) although amusing ones always welcome too :D

She (the MiL) was a Farmers wife so very possible...

My wife thinks it may have been for basket work as well or something like that...

I'm not sure, but it looks like the needle for the thread that you need when you make string vests for hippopotamuses.

(That owes a nod to Ronnie Barker :) )

Needles that are that shaped are usually for mending things. Not sure what though with the size.

It looks to be an Edwardian dildo, often sheathed in doe skin and used by well heeled ladies when their nearest and dearest we’re away on business or suchlike . The fascinating thing is that within seconds it could be converted to a handy back scratcher to avert any embarrassing situations
