Great run and finish that deserved to win a game.

Much improved in the second half. I was less convinced by him in the first half, which was pretty dire.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Goal aside he was great.

Re: Hendrick goal
You thought that the first half was decent, you thought that Hendrick was great in the first half, or both?
We were second best in the first half and lacked control in midfield, which Hendrick was a contributing factor in (not alone).
Second half and particularly after the red card, we took advantage and Hendrick played much better.
He WAS better in the second half than the first.

Has a few contenders for best goal of the last five years does Jeff.

Certainly does. I wish he’d contribute a few more goals but when he does score, they’re usually screamers.TheFamilyCat wrote:Has a few contenders for best goal of the last five years does Jeff.

Re: Hendrick goal
This is the thing. I think centre midfield has always been where he's best, but putting him in the support man role just didn't work. And when the starting 11 came out, I thought that Hendrick/Westwood could actually be better without Cork - but we need the wide men to avoid injury. JBG keeps getting light injuries, which forces Hendrick to play wide.Paul Waine wrote:I think Jeff will be the new CM signing in Jan - and well worth it.

Re: Hendrick goal
Great finish, very hard technique.
Could have had one in the first half too.
But other than the goal thought he did very well.
Having a nice little purple patch is Jeff, and just at the right time with his contract situation.
Long may it continue

Hendrick offers us something, he is capable of such goals as today and previous matches. Really under rated

Re: Hendrick goal
We didn’t get control of the ball in the first half and I didn’t see much of Hendrick. Westwood stood out as the better of the two for me in the first half. Hendrick really came into the game after the red card, where he made himself more available and scored a brilliant goal. Not sure why there’s so much pissy pants about that view, to be honest.
Re: Hendrick goal
It was obvious Hendrick was better in the second half than the first. Same goes for the team generally.

Re: Hendrick goal
Superb goal.
Had an excellent last 70 minutes of the game. Took 25 minutes to grow into the game, which was understandable given its a while since he's played that role in the Premier League.
Actually I thought we did OK in midfield in the first half - we worked some nice bits of space between McNeill, Westwood and Hendrick - but the front two didn't give us a platform, and the full backs and the strangely off-colour JBG didn't really given us an outlet out wide.

Re: Hendrick goal
Didn;t appreciate just how good his technique was until seeing it on MOTD. Tarks role was also pivotal and the same tactic nearly got us anotehr first half.
Masterclass from Dyche, he knew Everton were susceptible on set pieces and we had clearly been working on exploiting that.

Did you really expect him to be on full form? It was his first game back after 5weeks out.

It's already been said, but the first thing Sean has to do on Monday morning is to get Hendrick into his office to discuss a new contract.
We can't afford to lose Jeff Hendrick.

I think it’s odd that so many were calling for his head last season but now they all want him to stay. He has always been a great player but played in the wrong position.

Re: Hendrick goal
Kammy will be creaming himself on GOS , as he does love a goal from the training ground.
We would be daft to let Jeff go, but I'm not concerned. I dont think there will be better offers out there, Burnley players do tend to go under the radar.
I've said previously, he plays better with the game in front of him, which is why he can flatter to deceive in that no10 role or on the wing. I hope he can cement the CM spot.

Some absolute whoppers on this thread.
He had a good game which he got better in as it progressed, there’s no argument about that.

Re: Hendrick goal
I thought he was our best player yesterday.
He was one of our better players in the first half where we struggled to get anything going for the first 20 mins but other than set pieces Everton were not much better either.
Jeff was putting a real shift in during the first half and he looked tidy on the ball when we got it but Wood and Barnes were totally dominated in the first period by Mina and Keane.
There was very little football by either team in first half and we just cancelled each other out.
Second half game was better and more open even before sending off.

Everton defence didn't see it coming which is a joke, given that we tried it in the first half too

One of the best things about that goal is Tarks' involvement. The way he forces the defender into the centre to create space for Jeff's run.
