Pope was fantastic today, cementing his place as Burnley's best keeper in over 40 year. 9
Tarky was brilliant 8 and Jeff scored a banger 7.

But 6s for the rest of them. Poor game

Pope is the best keeper in my lifetime and I am 60. Perfect height and build and he will be an England World Cup winner.
Improved since his injury, extremely commanding and his kicking is now out there with the best

Pope - 7 - Little to do but took the pressure off a couple of times with high takes
Lowton - 6 - Not his best day on the ball
Tarkowski - 8 - Dominated
Mee - 8 - Also dominated
Pieters - 7 - Was doing well until the injury
JBG - 6 - Industrious and found himself in some good positions but wasteful
Hendrick - 8 - Did really well and took his goal superbly
Westwood - 8 - Was everywhere, some great interceptions and a nice assist
McNeill - 8 - Carried the ball superbly and showed a lot more stamina than last season both in defence and attack
Barnes - 6 - Tough day for him
Wood - 7 - Led the line reasonably well

Rodriguez - 7 - Some good runs and really helped us to see the game out
Taylor - 7 - Straight back into the swing of things

Pope 7 flawless, but he did have very little to do
Lowton 6
Tarks 8
Mee 9 mom
Pieters 7 amazed he carried on, true soldier
JBG 6
Hendrick 8
Westwood 7
McNeil 8
Barnes 6
Wood 7

Jay Rod 7
Taylor 7

Thought we weren't at our best today, but looked comfortable anyway. Great 3 points.

Player ratings is obviously a matter of opinion, and it's interesting how differently some posters see the game and individual performances.
You assume correctly that I was at the game. How otherwise would I be in a position to comment on Pope's really solid performance?
Why you would "despise" anyone for commenting on any rating that seems a bit unfair on the player I'm unclear. Isn't that the main reason for a football message board? (i.e. to express an opinion)
If you've changed (upgraded) Pope to 7 then it suggests that you agree with me, but leaving all the above to one side, surely you realised that my post, with its reference to his expert "time-wasting" skills, was mainly tongue in cheek.

a good team performance overall. we probably weren't at our best with a couple of players underpar, but Mee was excellent, Jeff good again, Pope-England's number one and Mc Neil, as we know an outstanding prospect. Put those together and we were just about too much for an Everton side looking tired and on a downward spiral. Up the Clarets.

From NBCSN live TV
Pope 8 - Inspires confidence and kicking/distribution has improved in the last few games.
Lowts 7 - love his enthusiasm, a bit wasteful at times
Tarka 9 / Mee 9 - They really have become a very good pair who combine together extremely well.
Pieters 6 - Steady enough, wish he would get tighter on opponents quicker.
JBG 6 - Lacking a bit of match sharpness after the injury.
Westy 8 - Industrious and put in a real shift. He takes a good corner!
Hendrick 9 - Thought he looked very good and linked play well, and also becoming a constant threat in and around the box.
McNeil 7 - Played well in fits and starts, looks to be building up more stamina, doing the closing down well now, and a great 100-yard run with the ball late on to take the pressure, and time, off.
Barnes 7 / Wood 6 - Both kept plugging away and were a handful for the defence despite not getting a lot of the ball.

Taylor 8 - Looked sharp and I think he links up better with Dwight.
JayRod 7 - Some nice control and helped us use the extra man to get over the line, shame players got in each others' way with the glorious chance to add a second.

Tons of effort all around as usual. Bit of a patchy performance, but with some excellent periods of play as well. Whether Everton are in a funk or not, they are a big scalp and we should take great heart from knocking them off. Fantastic punch-the-air feeling when that final whistle went. Sitting 5th with 12 points from 8 games, that will do me nicely!! Can now savour the situation for 2 weeks :)

On a serious note here we need to talk about a Jeff Hendrick contract extension.

No anger. It doesn’t really take much to understand my response. No need to try and justify yourself. Run along now there’s a good lad.

Pope 8-He looks very secure and does the simple things very well.
Lowton 7-Worked tirelessly and had a good block in the 6 yard box that prevented a potential goal.
Tarkowski 9-Amazed he can't make the present England squad.
Mee 9-Just shaded MOM for me. He was outstanding especially in the air.
Pieters 6-Unfortunate with the injury but I'm a big Charlie fan.
Gudmundsson 6-Works hard for the team but his decision making at times can be poor
Westwood 9-Again excellent. Ran midfield for us.
Hendrick 7-Seemed to take him a while to get in the game but he played well thereon. He doesn't do 'tap ins'.
McNeil 7-Felt he played very well in spells.
Wood 6-Improved when Jay Rod came on.
Barnes 5-Like last week, think Ash is going through a poor patch, although he worked very hard.

Taylor 8-Personally glad to see him back. He looked very active.
JayRod 7-Should have been on ages before he got the call. Made a difference as last week.

I thought Pickford showed why Southgate rates him yesterday.

He deserves his place in the squad, so he can study with Heaton and Pope.

Pope 1
Heaton 2
Pickford 3

Oh dear!
I can't find one post on this thread that justifies your view of Pope (6) or that agrees (as you suggest / imply) that we shouldn't / can't disagree with others' ratings.
Would it be simpler when we win to give everyone 10, and a 6 when we lose? If we do that then we can't disagree, but the board would be an awfully dull place.

Thought the defence were good today but it might have been a different story if Everton had a striker. Thought they dominated in midfield generally but McNeill had his best game for a while.

Pope 8
Lowton 7
Tarkowski 8
Mee 8
Pieters 7
Gudmundsson 7
Westwood 7
Hendrick 8
McNeil 8*
Wood 6
Barnes 6

Taylor 8

Tarks 8
Mee 9
Pieters 7
JBG 7
Hendrick 8
Westwood 7
McNeil 9
Barnes 7
Wood 7

Taylor 8

That performance was much better than the result suggests. Everton have very good players and were giving 100 percent. A hard game which I thought we won in every department.
