Maybe our transfer policy isn’t that bad after all. Not sure how many straight swaps I’d do.

Look at Brighton vs Spurs... I think every one of Spurs players is better than Brighton's, but Brighton wanted it and there's clearly a rift within the Spurs team. Up to a point, it's never about the individual quality, but it's how they are managed and how they are tasked to go about their job.

Doesn't matter what a club spends, if they haven't got the right manager in place then nothing will improve.
See Utd as a good example, Everton for another.

I thought Delph was a steal at less than 10 million. But I’ve changed my mind and City had their pants down. One of the worst premier league performances I’ve ever seen in centre mid.

It's funny how people who watch the game have such different opinions. The bloke behind me today, (neutral fan btw , not that it matters)
Was saying "everything runs through delph and what a class player he looks"
I wasnt overly impressed personally as for me it's a simple role for most midfielders at this level, but you must have discipline positional wise.
I'm not taking side with either opinion just funny sometimes.

I think it's human nature to often remember the positive things. So a Burnley fan is more likely to remember when we attack and pass well. A neutral won't remember that same amount of information and therefore likely to be able to rate things down the line.alboclaret wrote:It's funny how people who watch the game have such different opinions. Yes City had Evertons pants down! Maybe not as he can’t play that badly every week. I’d be interested to hear what Everton fans think of him.FactualFrank wrote:You mean Everton had their pants down?

That black fella (Yedlin?) next to Keane was one of the best players on the pitch today.

Mina. Quality defender and a goal threat as well, as both Burnley and England have found out in the past.Bin Ont Turf wrote:That black fella (Yedlin?) next to Keane was one of the best players on the pitch today.

I don't think Everton's chronic underachievement has been highlighted as much as it should've been. Spent enormous money in recent years and haven't achieved any more than Burnley have. Not ruthless enough either - still have the likes of Calvert-Lewin starting; Silva is a bottom 3 manager and he has been allowed to basically finish Everton's season before they've sacked him (IF they sack him).
Re: So that is what 250m gets you!
Yes, Mina at number 13 had a great game today, stood out in that Everton team big time.Bin Ont Turf wrote:Ha, just checked and yes Mina.

Only 30 Million euros... cheap compared to the rest I guess.

It was the worst performance Everton have put in this season.
It was the worst performance Burnley have put in this season.
Dreadful game in which we won, be thankful and move on.

Re: So that is what 250m gets you!
I was speaking to a City fan at work about Delph the other day, saying I thought he was a great signing for Everton. He said he wasn’t good enough. I said maybe not good enough for city but plenty good enough for the rest of us. He said not good enough for the Premier League.Winstonswhite wrote:I thought Delph was a steal at less than 10 million. But I’ve changed my mind and City had their pants down. After today I think he might be right, although to be fair Delph did seem to step up for a brief period after Coleman went off.

Very aptly described I thought by the BBCSport match report: Burnley are a solid outfit with industrious, hard-working players across the pitch, assembled at a fraction of the cost of their opponents.

He's right up to a point. Everything Everton did, did go through Delph and he was very busy and always available, BUT there was absolutely no end product and his "Hollywood" cross field passes were utterly useless. To me he flattered to deceive. (likewise Iwobi tbh)alboclaret wrote:It's funny how people who watch the game have such different opinions. Re: So that is what 250m gets you!
He’s keen is Delph, runs around loads, always wants the ball, never stops talking.
The only problem is he seems incapable of keeping the football on the pitch, which is a fairly big target for a professional to hit. To be fair, the lad’s done well to get England and Man City on his CV.

For a fair part of the game I did think Delph was running things. Then I looked at Westwood and he was doing the same.
He is fast becoming one of my favourite players, seems to be in the middle of every thing and every move we make.

He is black. It's not an insult. It's a fact. We can certainly say without fear of retribution that Mina is black. He'll be proud to say he's black too. And rightly so.Pimlico_Claret wrote:Aren't we supposed to say person of colour?
