Same reason some people say 'Fillum' instead of film - they''re thick. It's definitely not just southerners.basil6345789 wrote:Why do Southerners pronounce it drawring?

Refuse - refuge.
I'm a southerner and I never realised I pronounced it 'drawring'. I've just done it and I do!
This may be my excuse:
https://jakubmarian.com/drawing-pronoun ... h-english/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Anyway, 'it is often used even by highly educated people'.
