Everton were dire today

Post by RalphCoatesComb » Sun Oct 06, 2019 12:12 am

They had far more possession than us for long periods of the game but did nothing with the ball.

They made it easy for Mee and Tarkowski (Both were superb) and offered little in return.

Very poor performance by the toffees today. It should mark the end for Silva.

Hopefully, they won't come sniffing around for Sean Dyche ;)

Everton don’t seem to have an identity. A very mediocre team who are not meeting their potential.

I think it goes to show how far we have come though. I fancied Burnley to win yesterday. Not thinking that we could win, but we should win.

I don't think one Everton fan will be asking for Dyche to become their manager if they pot Silva, on today's performance.

They woke up briefly after going down to 10 men, which sort of indicates they could play with a 2nd striker.

I don't think that they had a single shot on target in the 2nd half. For a club who have invested so much money I couldn't believe our ordinary they looked and I blame the manager, they play to narrow and sit far to deep.

I really think Dyche and Everton is a perfect match - he would make them a Champions League side.

Fortunately for us, the usual uniformed whinges about long-balls and unattractive playing styles will kick-in,and they’ll recruit the next flavour-of-the- month over-rated foreigner.

Lets hope Poch gets the chop before Silva does!!!

And the week before, and the week before... that's 4 on the spin now. They are 17th when in truth with the money they've spent, teams they've played and the lack of form of the "big 6" they should be on the top 4.

2 players at £50m each (both played awful)
The majority of the rest of the team £30m each.
Tossun and Kean £30m each on bench - along with many other very expensive bench warmers

They have spent a fortune and could be in bottom 3 after today’s game.
Happy days !

Everton are similar to a few other 'big' clubs around just now.
Lots of expensive, highly paid individuals who've no idea how to play as a team.

I always like to "score" the opposition (in my head at least).

A very ordinary performance from an expensive team

Pickford 6
Coleman 4 (Dyche would have him in the Development Squad for a while)
Keane 6
Mina 7
Digne 6
Schneiderlin 5
Delph 6
Richarlison 5
Sigurdsson 5
Iwobi 6
Calvert-Lewin 5

Kean 6
Sidibé 6
Gomes 6

Silva 3

I would say that we do a lot of work prior to and during matches to ensure that we stifle the opposition. It's a much underrated ability that we have, and that means that against us players look a lot worse than they are.

Generous ratings, if anything. Particularly with the front four who were utterly abysmal.

Tarks and Mee made them look "ordinary"

Taken from the BBC, is this true?

Sean Dyche could easily have been in the opposite dugout for this game, having missed out on the Toffees job to Silva, and he showed Everton what they might have won.

Everybody seems to forget that Dyche is now becoming not only a smart manager but also a very experienced one. He set us up yesterday to close Everton down and it worked perfectly. Not a pretty game but one we were never going to lose.

more from BBC:
Since Silva came to England in January 2017 as Hull manager, his sides - which also include Watford - have conceded 45 goals from set-pieces, including six this campaign - a league high.

Set-piece struggles for Everton - the stats:
Burnley are unbeaten in four Premier League games (W2, D2), after losing five of their seven before that (W1, D1).
Everton have lost four consecutive Premier League games for the first time since January 2015.
Since the start of last season, Everton have shipped 22 goals from set-piece situations (excl. pens) in the Premier League, more than any other side.
Since the start of last season, Everton have picked up six red cards in the Premier League, more than any other side.
Everton full-back Seamus Coleman picked up just his second red card in the Premier League and his first since May 2011 against Chelsea.
Jeff Hendrick has netted two goals in his last four Premier League appearances for Burnley, as many as he managed in his previous 30.

Ratings (With price tags )

Pickford (£25m) Holding his own ...... fill in the blank
Coleman (£60k) was worth a punt. Dangerous yesterday, nearly killed two of our players
Keane (£25m) scored seven for Burnley only one for Everton. You'll always be a Claret.
Mina (£28m) big lad, & worth his weight in Columbian Gold
Digne (£18m) Merde
Schneiderlin (£20m) Ordures
Delph (£8m) bargain
Richarlison (£40m) rich by name, even richer now
Sigurdsson (£45m) heart as big as a puffin yesterday
Iwobi (£35m) saw Arsenal coming, snip, but not his hair, please.
Calvert-Lewin (Youth) Lone Ranger was missing Tonto yesterday

SUBS:
Kean (£24.5) only 19 great prospect
Sidibé (On loan from Monaco) sign him up
Gomes (£22m ) signed from Barcelona in July, they've plummeted since then

Davie & Holgate SNU two young lads who must be wondering WTF is going on
Plus Bernard and Lossl on frees.

In the stiffs or injured:

Tosun (£27m) waiting for Christmas
Gbamin (£25) Undefeated in his two games vs Watford & Palace.
Theo (£20m ) Roadrunner
Niasse (£13.5) remember him?

Silva - took over from Route One BFS, needs more time to change their style

Exactly. Last week they gave Man City a good run and were a bit unlucky after having created chances
As you say we 'neutered' them
