Pieters or Taylor?
If both are fit, who would you pick as starting LB against Leicester?
For me, Pieters has done well, a blip at Villa last week, but other than that he has been solid and got us some valuable assists, but.... I forgot just how much Taylor had developed last season. He looked very good when he came onto today. Despite first team game time this season, his runs, pace and determination shone through for me.
Even if both are fit I would hope to see Taylor start against Leicester.
Great for us to have two very capable Left-backs at our disposal and don't forget that Koiki also seems a decent prospect.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
With Ward leaving I never thought there would be a decision to be made, but well done Pieters.
Think we almost have a Lowton/ Bardsley situation at left back. If we need to scrap and fight we have Pieters and Bardsley. If we need to attack and create we have Lowton and Taylor - a great situation.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
Hard to choose, but Charlie was on the pitch when Everton were “light” on their right wing and were chasing the game. So Charlie had more freedom and scope to look good today.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
Charlie Taylor is a better player with a lot more pace and the team needs as much pace as we can get in it
Pieters has done well filling in though.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
Taylor , but Pieters great back up and a very intelligent player too. Taylor works well with McNeil and his bombing down the byline is always a good outlet ( Taylor actually has pace) . He really came on as a player last yr and great to see him slot right in.
Hate to see a player injured but good we have strong bench these days

It's a hard one, I like both of them for different reasons. Taylor has more pace and is the better footballer. Pieters is solid, a good passer and doesn't take any prisoners. I'm split on this one.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
Taylor is far better player than Pieters
We are far more dangerous going forward with Taylor in the side and his link up play last season with McNeil was a joy to watch. Pieters is a decent championship full back but not Premier league class he doesn't offer enough going forward

Taylor. Pieters can be our left sided Bardsley.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
Taylor for me as he gives us another dimension going forwards which I like to see. It gets the fans on their feet and lifts the crowd/tempo.
Taylor IMO also bring the best out of McNeil by overlapping, creating space and making sure McNeil isnt doubled up on all the time
However in Peiters he has genuine back up who can fill in very well and doesnt concern me if he played a dozen or more games when Taylor is out, as he has shown he is still a good solid left back.

4 assist tell a different tale.

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
I agree with the assist but he doesn't give McNeil enough support and lacks pace at this levelbartons baggage wrote:

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
How can a player with nearly 200 Premier League appearances and 18 internationals not be PL class. And 4 assists this yearTop Claret wrote:Taylor is far better player than Pieters

I think the OP question is a tough one and am happy for either of them to play

Re: Pieters or Taylor?
I see your point but he rarely gets forward to support McNeil who is on his own. We offer far more going forward down the left when we have Taylor playing who is a modern day wing back.
Pieters is an old fashioned full back who is now history has far as todays Premier league is concerned, you need to have pace and be able to beat a man and deliver in the modern game. Pieters offers a good delivery but little else, you need the full package like Taylor as
