Potential ticketing issues at West Ham

Post by ClaretTony » Mon Oct 07, 2019 4:55 pm

The Sports Ground Safety Authority (SGSA) are working with West Ham to put pressure on visiting clubs only to sell tickets to non risk fans. By non risk they mean supporters who sit to watch the match rather than stand.

Do the clubs keep records of who stands at matches?

How the hell do you police that? Not sell tickets to anyone under the age of 65?

Wouldn’t know how on earth you police the ticket sales but strong belief that anyone standing there will be removed if thy ignore warnings.

Very hard to do if the full end is standing. All you can really do is pick out a few unlucky individuals and hope people get the message.

At Villa the other Saturday we had a few near us that were clearly the worse for wear (drinks wise) trying to sing .... they disappeared just before 1/2 time possibly to get another beer? who knows.
2nd half they were nowhere to be seen.

This has happened at a few away trips we have been on ...

At Watford away a few seasons ago, we had a bunch join the train at Milton Keynes on the way back who had left the ground (when Jeff was sent off for that mistimed tackle in the opening 10 minutes) and gone on the lash...

We were lucky  enough to have the seats right next to them ... They were extremely loud and extremely p*****d ... at Crewe they were removed from the train ... to cheers from all over the carriage... no idea how they got home.

The only downside is that the Olympic stadium is one I have decided not to attend, as the view is naff anyway!

The one time I went (evening match), I watched much of the match on the superb big screen, by accident! You watch when it is at the other end and suddenly realise they are now under your nose!

Pitch miles away though. The after match walk around to Stratford East did not help either!

Yes, i was sadly on the front row of the lower tier last season and had to stand up because the view from a seated position was even worse

I suspect he is alluding to that Olde English 'law enforcers' method of extracting the truth.

The Rack for stretching purposes.

Much better after the first visit. Easier to watch in daytime and the easier route has been open back to the station.

If you do elect to stand, make sure you're not on the end of the row.

Last time I was there they had 3 pitch invasions, home players kicking their own fans, fighting each other in the home end and throwing coins at their chairman, yet they want to ban us for standing ??????
