Mobile phone help needed please

Post by mkmel » Mon Oct 07, 2019 5:25 pm

If it is relevant I have a One Plus 6 mobile

Irritation number 1

Whenever I am typing anything on my phone text messages the O2 message saying how much money balance I have keeps coming on my screen over whatever I am looking at telling me my O2 phone balance every 5 - 10 seconds predominantly on text message app

How can I stop this happening?

irritation number 2

And also if I am inactive for about 5 seconds then the mobile light goes off

How can I increase it to about 15 seconds?
And yes I know that will use up more juice on my battery

Thanks

For 2 it'll be in settings.
For 1 are you PAYG?

I have just managed to up the time my mobile phone light stays on
It was on 30 seconds which I know it was not on anywhere near that long
I know how to change it now so I will just keep an eye on it and see how it is

And yes I am with O2 PAYG so that's why it comes up on my screen to inform me how much I have in my O2 balance

But it keeps coming on every 5 - 10 seconds which is so irritating as it covers half of the screen so I have to press ok on it to get rid of it and then it comes back time and time again

I have just checked that my phone screen stays on for 1 minute like I have changed it to and yes the light stayed on for exactly 1 minute which is much better for me

This isn't a direct fix, but I would strongly recommend going on a contract. I'm with THREE and as long as you don't need to speak to them, it's costing me about £14 a month - unlimited texts, Internet and calls.

The wifes with O2 Payg ... her balance pops up every time she sends texts or calls anyone (its not a smartphone with tinterweb though so can't comment on mkmels problem)

I have just rung O2 and I think my call was taken by someone in South Africa

Very understanding and helpful and she has put the wheels in motion and in about 3 hours time the O2 balance information on my screen will go forever

On PAYG with O2 I pay £10 a month and I get 5000 texts 500 minutes of calls and 2GB of data

Do you get completely unlimited calls and unlimited data?

And do you get the phone for that or do you actually own your phone?

Scroll down from the top twice and press the cog.

Go to display > advanced > screen timeout. Change the setting there.

As for the credit popup, I think that's a short code or something you "dial" to turn that feature off

I read your post and 5 seconds later, this appeared! :D

Number 2 is definitely settings. Number 1 ring O2 and they will either adjust it or tell you how Mel.
Good luck.

Hope you don't start dancing like Beyonce or Nikki Minaj ... I simply cannot stand "Men who Twerk"

Hmmmm did that work .... not sure :D

My Mrs was in the kitchen on her mobile phone this morning ... I walked in and gave her a shove ... she stumbled and recovered ...
She said "What you doing that for :( )
I said "Just checking your balance dear"

Hmmmm another one .... not sure :D

Nowadays you can get sim only deals for only six or seven quid a month and you'll get unlimited talk/text and a couple of GB of data thrown in.

It's my personal mobile, not my business one. I use wifi at home. EE sim only - unlimited talk/text and a 2GB for £6.00.

Only a matter of time before we get free contracts. The companies will earn from sponsorship/adverts completely.

Look into Giffgaff maybe? No contract and you can choose any plan that suits you month by month. So this month you can pay £10 and next month £20.

I get a text every month as my “bundle” is running out and they advise which tariff they think would suit me - I started on a £15 a month tariff but kept getting messages I should go cheaper and I’ve never had a problem being on the £12 a month plan. Also the odd times I have ran out of data with a day or 2 to go I get a text off them to say they’ve thrown in an extra gb of data for free that month to see me over.

I also like how I can also track my data/mins/text allowance anytime too through the app and top up through the app even if my tariff expires and I have no WiFi. (They must just always allow you to connect to giffgaff even with no data).
