Anyone had an allergic reaction from having the iodine contrast when having a CT scan?

As for my endoscopy/colonoscopy contribution, I had an endoscope inserted up my nose 15-odd years ago when I had acutely infected tonsils. The consultant couldn't pass it through my mouth because of my overly sensitive gag reflex (I'd make a terrible gay porn star). When the consultant removed the endoscope he casually hung it on a hook behind him, failing to notice the massive stringy bogey dangling off the end of it onto his paperwork.
Did the throat spray not kill any sensitivity in your throat?

I have scans every three months and they have to inject me before hand with a special dye called intravenous contrast.
Its a nuclear medicine to show more clarity on your effected parts.
You then after wait around twenty minutes just to make sure you have no adverse reactions from the procedure, they tell you to drink plenty of fluids after
But dont think its the same thing as Iodine that's the stuff they put on cuts and grazers rusty in colour.

Enema administered, on endoscopy department, by nursing staff. Sigmoidoptoscope didn’t,t get too far before polyps were seen. Sigmoidoscopy abandoned and I am to be re scheduled for full colonoscopy  , this is also further complicated because my daily cocktail of drugs include not only warfarin, but clopidogrel as well. Cardiology and anti-coag specialists to be consulted to determine when and for how long I come off the warfarin as a minimum. I just want it sorted sooner rather than later.

Just to reassure ...polyps were found when I had a full colonoscopy it's not uncommon..i wasn't on any medication though. Not sure if/how that affects the procedure btw.

:D :D :D Well today is fast day from breakfast and the dreaded MoviPrep solution from teatime......all ready for hospital tomorrow at 8am.

Thanks for your kind words everyone, I'm sure I'm probably worrying unnecessarily. By advice given I think I'll choose to be sedated.

Do you get to keep the video footage!!!! :D :D :D

you'll be fine mate .I have white coat syndrome and I was fine.

Don't give up on the laxative as taking all of it 100% clears you out . You will be well into double figure visits to the John.

I had the sedative and slept through it although it was only supposed to make you groggy.

Didn't feel a thing and I also had a polyip removed

As many have advised on here, don't stray far from the toilet this evening. Mount Etna eruptions are nowt compared to the Moviprep experience.
When you were told you needed a colonoscopy, you probably felt the bottom had fallen out of your world. Tonight, you'll feel like the world's fallen out of your bottom!
Joking apart though, tomorrow won't be very unpleasant at all and hopefully all will be well when you get the results as it is in most cases.

Re the video footage,- probably turn up on Pootube or Ar*ebook.

Good luck.

Last year I had a Virtual Colonoscopy, which is similar to an MRI, but first you go through the prep as with traditional colonoscopy. The difference is that due to the numerous folds in the colon they need to inflate it to remove some of the wrinkles to allow a clearer image of the whole colon, so! up goes a tube which is connected to a CO2 cylinder, you then have to clench your arse to keep the tube in while they introduce the Gas. That my friends is really f*****g weird, happily other than a sliding hiatus hernia no other problems exist. I did ask the nurse if I would fly around the room like a party balloon when the tube was removed though!
