Banning snacking on public transport
Banning snacking on public transport
Good luck with policing that one. I ll take the car instead so that will be good for the environment. Perhaps seducating some parents and their kids what to eat might be a good idea.

People are all to quick to have a pop at public transport in this country. But how people behave and treat it whilst using it is an utter disgrace.
I’ve used transport in many of the worlds major cities and they way people respect others is incredible.
My biggest peeve is those that treat it as if they are the only ones using it. Shouting, phones on loudspeaker when making a call, playing music out loud, eating smelling ******* food, beer cans chucked about, feet on chairs. **** the lot of em. Wankers.

Modern society. People no longer want privacy. They want to be loud and heard, share their life online, let everyone know their opinions and then complain when others slag them off or don't agree with them.Dyched wrote:People are all to quick to have a pop at public transport in this country. Away days with other fans are a particularly good example.

I only travel by train once or twice a year, usually when going to London. Might have a sandwich or something to nibble with a cup of railway coffee . The thought that you won't be able to have any refreshments during a 2 or 3 hour journey just makes me think take the car!

But you'd treat the obesity on the nanny state NHS? I'm not fussed either way. Either no state intervention in your health or lots of state provision in return for which we modify our behaviour. The worst of both worlds we have now is the problem.Damo wrote:Nanny state

Re: Banning snacking on public transport
Last Friday I ate an apple on the train, according to this if these charlatans got their way that would be illegal as I’m setting a bad example to children? What the hell.
I often have sandwiches and other food on trains and I’m not going to stop because some kid might see me and think it’s ok to eat and apple or a ham sandwich too. Jesus wept.

Re: Banning snacking on public transport
Maybe people who have been told to reduce weight by their GP and don’t meet targets should pay a surcharge to the NHS. When you see someone who is obese buying and eating crap they need to take responsibility for that choice.
Re: Banning snacking on public transport
Everybody dies, and most people die of something that needs extensive and expensive treatment by the NHS. If you look after yourself perfectly, you're still going to get ill and die; but it might be after taking an extra twenty years' pension out of the kitty.Blackrod wrote:Maybe people who have been told to reduce weight by their GP and don’t meet targets should pay a surcharge to the NHS. Re: Banning snacking on public transport
Completely impractical idea- given that there are loads of current poor behaviours not policed on public transport.
Slap substantial tax on unhealthy food, use the income towards NHS/banging home the message to parents about how harmful it is for kids to start life with poor dietary habits.
Everybody needs a treat food/snack now and then and no harm done eating on public transport if you dont leave crumbs/debris everywhere and chuck you packaging about (that's another matter).
