Manchester becoming a mini-London - very unfriendly place throughout and full of all kinds of undesirables. Not going there again.mdd2 wrote:I saw a better clip on TV where he raised his head and my guess would be that his genes are from East Africa-Sudan, Somalia area but time will tell whether the man is a terrorist or suffering from mental health problems as well as if the former, his origins.

Re: Stabbing(s) Manchester Arndale !!
Piccadilly gardens has been a roughhouse since the early 70’s and was fecking horrific in the 80’s n 90’s. Always has rough sleepers and no matter what they try and do to the “ square” it attracts the real low life’s especially after dark every city has one but this is Manchester’s @rsehole for sureJazz2013 wrote:I was there other weekend stayed at Salford keys bang on it was. Went into piccadilly gardens to greggs Sunday morning. Bouncers on doors he said 3 greggs and only 2 bouncers to cover 3 shops .spice heads robbing on a daily basis. Someone was arested while I was outside. Homeless spice addicts everywhere .
Re: Stabbing(s) Manchester Arndale !!
It's getting worse. I work near Piccadilly Gardens and either walk there from Victoria off the first train in from Burnley or drive in and walk through the Northern Quarter at about 0630. The number of rough sleepers is ridiculous now on the walk from Victoria (usually beaten only by the piles of fresh vomit), and the NQ that early in the morning is a real sh!thole - it's unusual if i don't see a few rats scurrying for cover on the walk across. I was thinking of getting a flat in town for a while but I'll stick to the commute.

I'd guess the attacks in Manchester are unrelated to terrorism...every one seems to be on Drugs...London seems to have imported a Lot of families from war torn countries where violence is the norm.safety in numbers could be promoting gang culture from different ethnic backgrounds IMO.basil6345789 wrote:Manchester becoming a mini-London - very unfriendly place throughout and full of all kinds of undesirables. Fortunately I've never been in the position, so know little about it, but with our social benefits etc, is there a need to sleep rough, or is it by choice?Sproggy wrote:It's getting worse. There are always many excuses made for folk being evil.
Re: Stabbing(s) Manchester Arndale !!
On the flip side, we go to Manchester around once or twice a month. Sometimes shopping, sometimes for a few beers and some food. Never seen any trouble, everyone is friendly, and always a good atmosphere. Let's not make our world smaller thanks to one or two idiots. I have felt more threatened in Burnley at times than I ever have in Manchester, London or many big cities abroad.basil6345789 wrote:Manchester becoming a mini-London - very unfriendly place throughout and full of all kinds of undesirables. I suspect the amount of people who make a choice to sleep outside on a concrete floor is pretty minimal.Grumps wrote:Fortunately I've never been in the position, so know little about it, but with our social benefits etc, is there a need to sleep rough, or is it by choice?

You're gonna have to be more specific than that, otherwise I might think you've just made that up.tim_noone wrote:Erm.... The Homeless if the documentaries are to be believed....from the Horses mouth so to speak. Manchester featured one such documentary.

I don't have to be Anything... But a "few"people that are Homeless do it as a way of life. Like you I'm aware it's a Massive problem and as a regular visitor to stratford E15 it's sad to see dozens bedded down for the night in the Shopping centre. Incidentally where the young boy got stabbed to death a couple of days ago.fidelcastro wrote:You're gonna have to be more specific than that, otherwise I might think you've just made that up.

Re: Stabbing(s) Manchester Arndale !!
There's some people who just cant cope with responsibilities and self control needed to get off the streets and manage a basic lifestyle that is needed to keep a roof over their head.fidelcastro wrote:Really? What are they getting out of this "way of life"?
Dont misunderstand Im not saying this people set out to want to live on the streets and that was their choice. Life will have f*cked them up good and proper for them to get in this state and whist some of this might be self-inflicted as a country we really dont do enough to support and help people right at the bottom to stop them falling this far down.
Still the point I think Tim makes is that some of now become almost institutionalised to street living and no matter what we try and do to help them this is ultimately what they'll default to.
This will though be a minority and we really need to try and improve as a society how we stop people ending up on the streets and how we get them back into accommodation when they are homeless
