I know I shouldn't do it because when I look at one of these picture threads I'm filled with that strange malaise, 'homesickness'.

I left Burnley in my teens and I'm well past my threescore and ten, yet some of these pics. stir something inside which I don't really understand. A certain text mentions 'That strange and indissoluble attachment to the place where one derived his infant nurture' - for me it certainly exists and, as I age, seems to be getting stronger.

I've managed just two brief returns, - the last day of the Longside, and home against Plymouth the following year. Reality tells me that those visits will never be repeated, and these picture threads, whilst being an absolute pleasure, fill me with a strange sadness.

Will I stop looking? - absolutely not! Believe me, you're a lucky lot - you can reach out and touch.

Edit to add a later one from the same vantage point.
There’s about 3 weeks between photos.

10th November

Llyn y Dywarchen just outside Rhyd Ddu

Mountains in shot include Mynydd Mawr, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and Garnedd Ugain.

Taken with Sony Xperia XZ2 (H8216)

Using the great open source camera app "Open Camera" and it's slightly fiddly pano mode.

I thought it might be Leeds but they didn't concede at Bramhall Lane the season before. It looks like a mid-blue away strip and there's a dark line on the top of the socks. Any guesses?
