I too remember Michael appearing on Question Time. I also remember him as a rather shy lad in his teens at school (St Teds) with a slightly off-the wall sense of humour.

RIP son

Very sad news when a Burnley fan and regular contributor on this board passes way.

RIP Hampstead Claret

Didn't always see eye to eye with Hampers but was always respectful. Will be missed greatly. RIP Buddy

Had to reset password to get logged in just to post my condolences to the family and friends of Hampstead Claret one of the most rational reasonable posters on UTC. I don't usually post RIP's as I'm not sure I actually know any member of this forum in person, however, as others have said it felt like we had a lot in common especially music choices. Sad do all round and his posts will be missed on here, so yes R.I.P. Hampstead Claret.

RIP - a voice of reason on here and clearly a clever and interesting chap. Way too young to go.

Terribly sad news, the sort of poster many here would be happy to have shared a pint with and talk the night away. My next drink come Friday will be to HampsteadClaret.

Just reading this very sad news. A real shock.

MBs need good contribution from users and Hampstead regularly posted above all about music. He had tremendous knowledge and was very eclectic.

Always enthusiastic and came over as a very decent chap.

Thoughts are with his loved ones.

RIP Hampstead

I should like to think Hampers is enjoying a fine lunch, with drinks ..... talking tactics with Jimmy Mac & Bobby Moore, music with Clarence Clemons & Roy Orbison and arguing the political toss with Clem Attlee and Margaret Thatcher ( I can hear him now, " that's just where you're wrong, Margaret ! ) ;) ;)

Marsdenclaret wrote:Hampstead Claret was a close and lifelong personal friend of mine. He loved his hometown and team all the time living in London as a teacher at University College Hampstead and in St Albans before retiring albeit briefly back to Burnley.
He loved interacting with posters on here every day and loved the craic. Sometimes you would miss trains because Hampstead was doing one last reply to a post before leaving for a match! He had just had his 64th Birthday when his short illness took him. Very very, unfair we all thought. He was dry, funny, satirical and had a great way with words. He was easy to wind up to boiling point at which a number of us would collapse laughing and then twenty minutes later it was all forgotten. His knowledge of all things music was legendary with Springsteen being his favourite performer. He had been to over a dozen shows over the years and always loved them. Nothing gave him greater pride than watching his beloved Clarets all over the country. He travelled up for most home games and saw every game Burnley played in the southern regions when he could. I know he had many friends and posters that he loved conversing with on here and it was an enormous part of his life that brought him a lot of joy.
On behalf of his closest friends and family I would like to thank you all for the all the wonderful tributes that you have posted on here on the passing of our good mate Hampstead Claret. A legend to many a friend to so many more.

U.T.C.

Thanks.

The most poignant and yet the finest post this year.
He'd have loved this. (then maybe responded on another angle to make a point).

RIP Sir.
Sad loss.
