Matchday Autograph Passes

Post by Leisure » Sun Oct 13, 2019 2:34 pm

I wasn't aware of this and thought that it might be of interest -

Taken from the club website -

On a matchday, Burnley Football Club offers supporters the opportunity to get autographs, photos etc. with the players as they leave the ground.

This area is directly next to the media centre, where live press conferences will be taking place. This means that this area needs to be controlled and as a result, the number of passes handed out is limited.

If you are successful in your application you will receive an email from Burnley Football Club confirming this, and also providing details of when and where you can pick up your autograph passes on matchday.

If you have any questions, please email slo@burnleyfc.com.

Terms and conditions:

* Autograph passes are required to enter the autograph area after a match. Anyone without a pass will not be allowed entry
* To apply for an autograph pass, you must be a season ticket holder or have a matchday ticket for the game you are applying for
* Supporters will have 24 hours to send their application from 9am on the Monday before a weekend game. Successful applicants will be notified the following day via email. Applications received before the 9am Monday start time will not be considered
* Autograph passes for this area are only required after a match. Supporters are free to attend this area before the game as players arrive at the stadium.

******

If you want to apply for a pass you'll need to fill in the MATCHDAY PASS APPLICATION FORM which you can get on the club website.

I don’t understand the autograph thing. I understand families waiting for autographs with their young children - meeting their heroes etc. But when your over the age of 15, you must have better things to be doing with your time.

Horses for courses and that, but I don’t get it.

When I last went down (it was to get Heaton to sign a photo of him and my nephew), got to admit most of those there "over the age of 15" were getting folders full of those match cards or "players shirts" signed

To make money selling them and it’s the reason most players try and sneak off and avoid them, it’s the same faces every week. I’d like to think I’d just see it as part of the job and sign for the same people every week, but I probably wouldn’t

If you want Burnley players you're better off going down Gawthorpe at 9.30 and waiting at the barrier. That way you get them coming into training, and you usually end up with a full house of signatures.

I've been down a few times and always got sorted.
Our players are great.

The security lads are helpful too, they'll tell you if the players are in or not, when they're due in or if theres no training, so you srent waiting around for nothing.

Sometimes you have to get an autograph!

This was when my nephew waited to get Marneys boot signed and a picture after he got it when Marney took his last steps out onto Turf Moor as a Burnley player and gave him the boot in the crowd.

No wonder he struggled at Fleetwood if he only had one boot on.

Marney .... probably because it had his specialised insoles in.

My nephew, no - it’s added to his Burnley memorabilia collection.

Can anyone advise whether this is still the right time to try and catch the players for afew autographs before training?
My 9 year old is keen to try and get some autographs in his book and I’m keen for him to get some fresh air and be out of the house!
Conscious the above is afew years old and the routines / timings may have changed under VK?

I can't comment on accessibility or otherwise at Barnfield, but myself and my son spent a couple of seasons using the autograph passes and waiting for our players to come out and walk to their cars and the away to come out and walk to the team coach. However, this was when our players parked in the car park behind The Longside and that has now changed, they now park in the car park on Harry Potts Way adjacent to The Cricket Club and we haven't bothered since.

I know the passes stopped because of Covid and keeping the players away from supporters, but whether new arrangements have ben made I don't know. One thing is for sure though, my lad loved meeting our players - to a man they were so friendly and welcoming and whilst many have left, your son will really enjoy meeting the likes of Cork, Brownhill, Westwood, Lowton, Long, Barnes, Taylor and Jay if he gets the chance!

Thanks for your reply. It’s Gawthorpe timings / suggestions that im really hoping for. But everything I’ve read about the players under Dyche said they were a credit to the club. Can’t imagine this will have changed under VK either. Everyone seems grounded.

Got there for 09:00 and was told by a passing staff member that the 1st team were doing an afternoon session today so given the suggestion to come back for 11:00.
At 11:00 we then spent the next hour watching players arrive and every car stopped to sign and talk. All of the players were a credit to club and made my boy’s day.
His particular highlight was getting to meet and tell Jay that he is his favourite player. And to show him his new shirt (Christmas present) which has got Jay Rod on the back.
Mine was watching Anass laugh when he had his song sung to him and to see him light up when we asked about the World Cup.
These are little things which don’t cost anything but mean a great deal to a young fan who’s fallen in love with the clarets this season. Im hoping he’ll have the bug for life now.

It's always busier in the afternoon around the training ground if I walk the dog down Gawthorpe.

Not sure who's there like

I sincerely hope so. A lot of us have had to commit based on a lot less, unless you think a mad dash from the Woodman to get there before kick-off and the lingering smell of pi$$ on the Longside compares favourably to his experience.

But seriously, well done! We loved taking my lads on pre-season friendlies because the access to players was so good. I am now the proud Dad of a self-confessed but deluded Burnley "ultra" and a mute obsessive Claret.

I’m going to take a little bit credit for our goal tonight at Stoke.
After he’d signed the autograph book I said to Josh Cullen “all we need from you now is a goal this season” and he gave a wry smile back. Taylor HB was the passenger in his car and started laughing which made me think I wasn’t the first person to have to told him!
So there we are. Made me laugh when I saw the goal scorer tonight.
