Colne Rd Burnley

Post by MRG » Sun Oct 13, 2019 9:56 pm

Apparently there’s a serious police incident on Colne Rd between the Prairie Pub and the playing fields.

I’ll stick my neck out and say there’s been a car go through red lights at high speed.

I would say more than one, and all in different directions rented out to 17 year olds.

Nooooo surely not ... those young lads in the high end German Saloons don't crash red led lights ... surely not...

Casterton Avenue Lights is a black spot for that, twice have nearly had the front end ripped off my car when heading towards Brierfield off Casterton Avenue after a Night Match... we always wait till the lights have been changed a few seconds now ... before setting off ... watched several get cut up there too by them...

It is a plague these days across East Lancashire...

The Constabulary could do worse than put their speed vans there between 9 pm and 2 pm each night for a couple of months, rather than on Padiham Road/Rossendale Road trying to catch school run Mums doing 36 mph on a dual carriageway ... :?

Possibly depending on what direction, I’d purposely slow down if in the direction around reedley magistrates.

Lost count of number of times I’ve seen “overtaking” at that junction going towards Burnley

I’m fact I once saw a car fail to get across the junction before me so went down the the opposite side of the road to get in front :x

Sounds like this board is full of right Wuss drivers. If cars are having to go in the opposite lane to overtake you then you need to put your foot on the gas a bit

You'll never catch one of the camera vans out when it's dark, they can't take a clear picture of the driver for starters.
I've certainly never seen one after 7pm anywhere in the UK

Reports of shots fired according to Burnley police, not a car accident

"Police are at the scene of the property near Colne Road in Burnley, but it not yet cleat what has happened.

Local residents have took to Facebook to express their concern. One wrote: "Major police incident on Colne Road."

Quality reporting there I see.

Just to clarify that the new style speed camera van is frequently parked in the vicinity of the Prairie, but never at the times it's needed.
(i.e. in the late evening).
It catches loads of people at 9 on a Sunday morning however when the road is empty, and unfortunate motorists aren't fully concentrating and accidentally stray over about 36 because it's such a wide and empty road.

You can always trust UTC to start talking absolute rubbish as soon as something vague is reported involving Colne Road.

Didn't take people long to start making up their own scenarios in this thread, just like the one a few years ago where a collection of posters had blamed speeding Asian lads for a crash which actually happened between two old white people.

Wow, I didn’t realize the phenomenon was a Burnley problem as well. I’ve been keeping metal notes of bad driving in my area of Ontario for the last few years and young people driving 3 series Beemers are far and away top of the charts. Second appears to be guys driving dressed up pickup trucks, particularly Dodge Ram.

I'll bet it isn't Enterprise who hire those cars out ;)

Seen it a number of times myself around there too. Only a few weeks ago I saw a lad overtaking a line of traffic near the Oaks, going round the wrong side of the island in middle of the road. Ironically the people who 'hire' these high powered motors then whack the stereo up and have a day prancing around like they've made it, are usually the ones with the least road sense (or common sense for that matter)
