Iphone / Imessage query

Post by cricketfieldclarets » Wed Oct 16, 2019 8:49 pm

Anyone any good with IPhones? Usually pretty good myself but have a weird one and can only surmise its Imessage related.

Old sim card from an old iPhone now in a new Samsung.
Text received from someone who never had the number when it was in The iPhone. Only since it was in the Samsung.
No sim card in The iPhone at all now. However said message came through to the iPhone not the Samsung as a text.

The only thing I can think is that as the sim card was originally linked to the iPhone, the sender may have sent as an IMessage and therefore its gone through to the old phone(???) as an IMessage when its connected to WIFI and luckily still had that phone and it was turned on.

Any other possibility? Also how do you resolve it so all messages are now coming through to the new one?

Thanks

Check in settings on the iPhone how you can receive an iMessage. You might have an email address included.

Alternatively just switch off iMessage on your iPhone.

I’m no expert on phones but worth a try.

What CT said.

Settings for iMessage and you’ll have a number and/or mail address as recipient carrier. It’s likely to have been sent as iMessage and as such traversed the Apple servers to your number that way
