I'm sure many on this board in years gone by will have come across Clifford Atherton. He was a local referee in his time, and for many years, and also was very much involved at Lowerhouse Cricket Club to the point where I would probably have called him Mr Lowerhouse. He was always there doing something, even if it was having a go at me on local derby day.
He reached 90 but it is always sad to see the loss of someone who has given so much to local sport and my thoughts are with his family and friends.
RIP Clifford.

RIP Clifford
Could always be counted on to find a very good pro who remembers Kirty Azad ! or Evan Grey who came as a batsman but finished up being a very good slow bowler in fact if my memory serves me right we almost won the league that year
