You probably need to get to Scotland or Ireland!

A mate of mine teaches Bodhran but he lives up in the lakes. I'll get in touch with him and let you know what he says. He teaches in schools in Clitheroe during the week so it's possible he may be able to help you.

Many thanks, it’s easy if over in Ireland as you can just sit with a band in a session and learn while having a beer or two!!

I love the Bodhran. It's like being the drummer in a band and only having one drum. How difficult can it be if you have a sense of timing? I think it's about the wrist action - the Bodhran that is.

There's a bit more to the finesse than that!

I know mate - only kidding. A mate of mine, a drummer (we were in a band together years ago) has used a lot of percussion over the years and he tells me that the bodhran is much harder to master than it looks.

We play an acoustic set in our band and the bass player plays the Bodhran - the drummer (who is an excellent drummer) can't play it.

It really is about technique, I can make a better fist of it than the drummer.
