Still 0-1 and fair to say we’ve offered precious little. Very disappointing first half hour of football.

Two former Burnley players in the Barnsley team - Jordan Barnett & Callum Styles.

I’m assuming so. He was but came back and played one game. Bobby Thomas also injured.

Second half underway and still 0-1. It’s awful stuff.

48 mins: Burnley 1 Barnsley 1, Lewis Richardson. Now that would have been ruled out by VAR, he was yards offside.

60 mins: Burnley 2 Barnsley 1 - and it’s Richardson again. Game changed so much since our equaliser.

How many is that for the season CT?

And do you know his goals to games ratio so far this season?
I know hes playing at a much higher level and hasn't started every game or played every minute.

So certainly amongst the goals then, even if its 4 in 12 starts ( and I think it's better than that ) not a bad return considering his age and the level he's playing at.

The equaliser changed the game totally and we played so much better in the second half.

Still can’t believe our first goal was given.

And the rest.....

A couple of very gobby Barnsley players showing real petulance today - no 3 and no 11. How no 11 didn't get a card was ridiculous! Thankfully our u23's always seem to show the right amount of respect to both the officials and the opposition.

Real Mr Angry was their No 11.
First I've seen of the U23s. First half was pretty dire. They were quicker, stronger to the ball. And used it better than us when they had it.
Complete transformation 2nd half. Accept our 1st shouldn't have counted. Richardson still kept his composure and finished well.
2nd goal would have graced any match anywhere.
Sweeping move, great passing, great movement, superbly taken goal.
We played some decent footy.

One note. There lad who was once with us, Stiles.
I'd have him back.

What number was Stiles?

I thought Barnsley had 2 or 3 very neat players and no 11 looked a threat - he was just an idiot! Their midfield was better than ours in the first half. Benson had an excellent 2nd half and I thought our defence were very good.

Callum Styles was number 4 and the other ex-Burnley player was number 3 Jordan Barnett.

Stiles was No4.
Did a lot of good stuff for them.

Beat me to it CT.
There 11 was a threat.
Looks like he needs someone to get him to channel his angry boy angle.

Doesn't seem two minutes since we let him go but then again it was before all the staff changes in the academy. He's 19 now but he's made over 50 league appearances for Bury and Barnsley with over half of them starts.

Was amazed at the time we let Callum go, and still am. When you look at some of the fees paid for U23 players before and since then, it looks even more a ridiculous decision from Blake.

First time I've seen him but as has been said he was their best player. Nothing that Blake did surprises me.

What was it - 6 weeks from leaving us to playing first team league football - 2 weeks from leaving us to starting in a reserve game?

It wasn't even a marginal decision. He may not have been good enough to push through to the levels we were competing at, but he clearly was well above the level to be offered a scholarship.

I know Bury couldn't believe their luck... same with another couple of players who were in there until recently - think one may have been signed by a big prem club.

Never heard of him until you mentioned him pre ko.
Didn't know he'd played that many league games.
You & Dan have seen a lot more of our up and coming than I'll ever manage, but Stiles is a good footballer.
Reminded me a bit of Denis Wise, style wise. (see what I did then). :)
True though. I'd have him back.

As I posted, I’d never seen him before but I’ve spoken to enough people who were or are involved with our academy who were amazed that we didn’t offer him a scholarship.

I can only presume that our defenders understand Danish, because certainly I couldn't make out anything that Jensen was shouting to them in the first half! And to describe his kicking as erratic in the 1st half is being generous to him!

He’s a very inexperienced goalkeeper who has only been playing with us for a month or so. I don’t know anything about his command of the English language but I’m sure we will see big improvements in him over the season.

He's certainly a tall lad. His catching was very good but he didn't really have to make any serious saves today.

Stone said of him after his first game that he’s a good shot stopper but not yet a match goalkeeper. He is definitely a tall lad and I’ve been impressed with his handling because it can be difficult for keepers coming into English football for the first time.
