Re: Ben Gibson Link
So “Lancashire Live” have quoted “TEAMTalk”?
I’d say that’s pretty conclusive

Re: Ben Gibson Link
I said it at the time, and I still say it now, one of our ‘strangest’ signings in modern times.
Yeah... we know it’s all about strength in depth, but anyone who thinks he came here to sit on his arse is dreaming.
I rate the guy, and if I remember correctly, he was Boro’s captain at one point. He came to play in the PL, but summat happened. Or didn’t...

Think the lad needs to move on for the sake of his own career.

If we could get anywhere near what we paid for him we should sell. For his good as much as our own.
That said mext summer would be better from our POV.

We all know what didn't happen. What didn't happen is that Mee didn't get injured and Tarkowski didn't get injured. Touch wood.bobinho wrote:I said it at the time, and I still say it now, one of our ‘strangest’ signings in modern times.

We play with 2 centre halves, and Dyche doesn't do squad rotation for league games; so if you are centre half number 3, you don't play. I'm sure he came expecting to play, but if there are two men better than you at your position, it's a hard world. (But not that hard. I'd swap jobs with him.)

Re: Ben Gibson Link
Its been tough for him, but when he's played three things stand out.
He's not great in the air
He's not great on the deck
He's not great positionally
I suspect I'd play Long ahead of him, because at least you know his limitations.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
His stock will have fallen and i can only see a championship club taking him or a newly promoted club
Unless he can work his way into the side and get some premier league game under his belt
I can't see this happening soon with Long being a head of him
He was a signing that was a backup just in case Mee decided to pull the plug and an offer from one of the top clubs came in
Trouble is when you weigh things up players we have been carrying and the money lay out with Wells, Vydra, Defore ( all be it injury ) theres four that was on big money deals by the time they all go there merry ways we probably will have spent a premier years Sky money pot all but one we have had a little bit of worth.
But I suppose every club has bigger losses than us its just with our budget its massive to us
Saying all that we are still a very well run club

Give this lad a run in the team and he'll be more than fine. Keep him on the bench until the inevitable injury occurs to to Tarky or Mee.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
As others have said, he needs to move for his own career. You can't sit on a bench for two years at his age.
He needs to be playing for somebody.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
Very harsh judging him when he's barely played and then gets thrown into the stinking mess of one of our cup performances. For me Dyche had the perfect chance to give him a go after the Everton debacle last year, when Ben Mee could have easily gone along with Hart, but it wasn't to be. I'm sure the lad is rueing the day he signed for us, the move has been a complete disaster and he needs to move on to get his career back on track.Lancasterclaret wrote:Its been tough for him, but when he's played three things stand out.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
This lad was a very shrewd signing imo. Yes he's been very unfortunate. Think he was beginning to make his mark when he got injured and since Tarks and Mee have been very dominate. However I think his time will come for us in the not too distant future.

He was part of the Everton debacle! Not hard to remember seeing as he scored our goal.jrgbfc wrote:Very harsh judging him when he's barely played and then gets thrown into the stinking mess of one of our cup performances. Think Gibson has been very unlucky. When Tarks and Mee where struggling for form he found himself injured. Team in general wasn't playing well, so when he did play we were still on the wrong end of the result. I have a funny feeling that if and even when he gets a run he'd show himself to be adept and keep the shirt.

I can't see him getting a game anytime soon, given that Long seems to be preferred in the absence of Tarks/Mee.
Get rid in Jan for his own sake.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
What 'happened' was Tarks and Mee. Gibson is a good player and great cover for us but unless either Tarks or Mee have a biblical fall in form he ain't gonna get in, at least not as a centre back. And unless Dyche changes the habit of a lifetime and starts playing a different formation entirely I'm not sure how he is going to get game time. It is a shame because he is a great player but he ain't gonna force the dynamic duo out.bobinho wrote:I said it at the time, and I still say it now, one of our ‘strangest’ signings in modern times.

He only doesn't play because of the outstanding form of The skipper and Tarks.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
A transfer of a centre back would be needed, for Gibson to have a sniff.

We must have cover. If it wasn’t them the positions would have been filled with others. Our starters are just a notch above them. They are decent but not starter level.Longside4evr wrote: Trouble is when you weigh things up players we have been carrying and the money lay out with Wells, Vydra, Defore ( all be it injury ) theres four that was on big money deals by the time they all go there merry ways we probably will have spent a premier years Sky money pot all but one we have had a little bit of worth.

Re: Ben Gibson Link
I think if we can get good money for Gibson, and have a sensible target lined up to replace him in the squad, then it'd make sense to cash in on Gibson. He's a good player and a good character by all accounts, but essentially he's ended up being a very expensive understudy for a rejuvenated Ben Me. Given Mee is our captain it's highly unlikely that he'll be losing his place any time soon, which makes Gibson's place in the squad even more questionable.

Gibson injury put that one behind and when he played never showed it was his place to take
Defour well thats just bad luck but we knew he was injury prone
Wells bought injured and never featured.
Vyrda hasn't help himself with his comments in the passed but a championship top marks man and gets a five minute camo every now and then
!5 million was reported for Gibson and Vydra each with add ones
8 Million for Defour
And Five million for wells.
Just for the record i agree that they are now cover players but at the time of Purchase i wouldn't agree to bed in yes

Re: Ben Gibson Link
Not arguing but my point is it wasn't money wasted as cover was still needed. If Gibson had gone in Mee would have been the cover, If Mee had walked another would have come in to cover Gibson. Wells was a panic buy but we had to sign someone as the window was going tits up and we were a striker injury away from trouble.Longside4evr wrote:The thing is Trevor at the time they were bought to come straight in

Vydra should have been given more of a chance and D4 was a gamble, because of his injury history, that went wrong.
