Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
Can I ask how many of the virile “studs” on this forum would turn down sex with an attractive and consenting 17 year old? I’m certain that publicly the number will be a lot lower than privately.
With that said, the Prince behaved abhorrently in my opinion, as soon as Epstein was identified as a paedophile he really should have distanced himself and kept a low profile, but he didn’t, he publicly supported the bloke. I can understand that view if it was Dave from Brierfield sticking up for his mate down the pub, but the Prince is a public figure

To your first paragraph ...probably most of the board would swerve someone of that age unless aged similar. Grooming on a massive scale in this scenario by the "Elite" judging by last nights documentary. A Disgusting group of people not just the one man?who now can't talk. And I wouldn't be sticking up for dave down the pub in Brierfield either.Rick_Muller wrote:Can I ask how many of the virile “studs” on this forum would turn down sex with an attractive and consenting 17 year old? 17 is legal in this country, Tim. It’s the Florida state laws that have enmeshed him in this.tim_noone wrote:To your first paragraph ...probably most of the board would swerve someone of that age unless aged similar.
OT. Did anybody read the story of the Morecambe woman having her 22nd child? She was 14 when she had the first and he was 18. Although they are a happy couple and still together the first was still illegal.

I get what you’re saying Tim, and I agree that most I know do too. The point I was trying to make, probably badly, is that I have seen so many times in the past middle aged men “sharking” young girls in the club after a few bevvies, and it was a lot more common than most would like to admit.tim_noone wrote:Trevor...To your it's Legal At 17 most men I know have a moral compass.

Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
So it's immoral to have a relationship with a 17 year old when you are 18? 19? 20 3/4? 21 and a bit? 23 next birthday?tim_noone wrote:Trevor...To your it's Legal At 17 most men I know have a moral compass.
Be precise please. It's clearly OK at 17 but there is some age gap you find morally (I'm not sure it is moral - I think it's a very deep-seated and necessary function for the species) reprehensible. What exactly is the number of days and years?
I can't think of much I'm less likely to do, but I don't buy your moral outrage at the age gap.

Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
Not sure relationship is the correct term here - looks more like the girl was provided; groomed?
I think we've all seen the picture of the 40 year old Prince with his arm around the bare midriff of this girl. Not exactly the behaviour one might expect of some one in his exalted position.
Fortunately my 40 year old son was brought up a bit better that that - major thanks to his mum, by the way.

The Princes Trust has done fantastic things for many, not least in Burnley.
The Duke of Edinburgh awards are actively supported by Edward of Wessex.
Countless other examples of worthwhile work.

Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
No evidence she was groomed and I'm sure 17 year old American girls are just as sexually aware and active as most 17 year old girls in the developed world and most of the rest too. Fame and fortune have always been a huge attraction for women and girls and that is what was on offer to them at those parties. These are not young girls but young women we're discussing here.Claret Toni wrote:Not sure relationship is the correct term here - looks more like the girl was provided; groomed?

Not my style at all, though an arm round someone's waist isn't generally a sign that sexual activity is definitely on the horizon, and I'm not saying it makes it score highly on the morality scale but this would not raise many hackles in the UK unless it was some high profile person involved.

Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
I've known a couple of paedophiles over the years, they dont wear a sign around their neck advertising, and it can be well hidden.
In the same light 17 year old girls dont wear a sign either. I've seen 15 year olds dolled up that could pass for 20, in the same vane I should this 17 year old girl looked a lot older.
I haven't watched despatches, so dont know what the evidence is against Andrew, as to what he knew or didn't know, but as is the British media way to hound public figures I'm not going to jump on the band wagon and slate him without knowing all the facts.

Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
I've often thought this when 'real men' are criticising so-called perverts. The whole area is a bit grey. You may be a paedophile in one country but not another because of the differing ages of consent. In some societies marriage at 12 or so is allowed. And if a guy at 18 has sex with a girl at 15 is he a paedophile? There is only 3 years between them whereas there can be 15/20 or more years between so-called consenting adults. And your example above is quite right because in this country if the girl was 17 it wouldn't be illegal anyway.Rick_Muller wrote:Can I ask how many of the virile “studs” on this forum would turn down sex with an attractive and consenting 17 year old? Incidentally I was 15 on my first encounter and my girlfriend at the time was 18. Was she a paedophile? I certainly didn't feel in any way abused.
Seriously there is definitely a need to protect innocence but I think we have to be very careful about what we are condemning and where we are condemning it.
As far as the prince is concerned though there should be a thorough investigation as to his involvement (or otherwise) and any wrong doing should be exposed and dealt with. I fear though that as a member of our royalty there will be a cover-up because as we all know they are above the law. Of course there may be nothing to cover up and if that is the case wouldn't the prince himself welcome an investigation if only to prove his innocence? But then if there is an investigation and nothing is found there will still, as always, be those who will say 'he got away with it' and 'no smoke without fire' and all that usual nonsense. Unfortunately when someone is accused of anything like this (including alleged rape trials) the 'accused' simply cannot win, which is why I think anonymity should be allowed (as with rape victims) until guilt or innocence is proved.
I declare that I am an anti-royalist so I am trying my best to be even handed on this one and not condemning him just because of his family connection.

Strange in an era when other previously unacceptable relationships have become completely everyday that you would feel so able to throw a blanket disapproval on those with an age gap. There's nothing like deep-seated prejudice.

Re: Dispatches the Prince & the Paedophile
Quite shocking on here how some seem to be suggesting that they think it normal and quite acceptable for a 40 year old man to have sex with a 17 year old girl who was trafficked for sex.
I shouldn't be surprised where the royal family are concerned. It seems that there are some people in this country who as soon as someone becomes a member of the royal family lose all common sense and start this embarrassing gushing sycophantic like praise of them even when the evidence, even if it is circumstantial, clearly gives a different view.
I'll stick with; the royal family are just chancers who care little for me and the worst of the bunch is Andy.
A good example of what I mean is shown above. Ian McL, in response to the comments by Steve1956, dismisses Charles disgraceful behaviour towards a young 19 year old girl with a throw away comment of...With her consent. He never loved her, he saw it as an arranged marriage of convenience and carried on his affair with Camilla throughout.
