Chippy

Post by Rubstuds » Wed Oct 23, 2019 2:05 pm

Just a note. The chippy at the top of Lyndhurst road is now open. After being closed for several months.

Let's hope they open before and after the game, every game.

Could quickly drum up a good reputation and regulars if its decent quality too.

Will give it a go for sure.

Ps theres now 4 chippys in 300 square yards from the park view one now.

The same owners as Ightenhill Chippy on Padiham Road, which is generally good.

Mr Singh?

If that's the case itll do everything possible, which often effects quality.
He is also on the expensive side.

Needs to sort out his curry sauce and gravy, not proper chippy style IMO.

He runs everything up this way.
Fingers in a lot of pies has Mr Singh

Rumours circulating he's purchased the old chippy, and is either trying to bur Mr Pratt out of the newsagents, or is going to open up his own basically next door... :o

Oh he's not afraid to put a few noses out of joint isn't Mr Singh.
I'm surprised he's not opened up a barbers or butty shop yet to rival those already in place.

A chippy is only as good as its potatoes.

And most of them are crap nowadays.

Been to the one up park lane once, got home to find the pie chips and peas twice had been put in the bag upside down and had leaked all over the fish and chips at the bottom, it was a whole lot of mess. Never been back. Prefer the old birds place in grove.

I'm certainly not visiting a barbers' shop owned by a man who has fingers in a lot of pies! :o

The chippy on Lowerhouse Lane, next to St Augustines school, is very good.

I'm sure they had a young Aussie student working behind the counter back then.

I can recommend it Macca, providing it is still the same owners (2 ladies) it was the best Cod and Chips I've had from anywhere in the past 3 years.

We were in Blackpool earlier this week. Went to Bentleys off the sea front and had top quality fish and chips. Far superior to anything I get down here. As we're sat out eating (we had the dog so couldn't eat indoors) one of the staff came out and asked if we were Burnley fans. I confirmed we were, he is also a Claret and mentioned a bloke who has a tattoo shop round the corner who has been to every game home and away for 5 years.

If you happen to find yourself in Blackpool I can highly recommend Bentleys.

I used to go in quite regularly but he then refused to sell sausages in case that he upset the local cheese and onion pie eating Pakistani fraternity... Shameful.

With the name Singh that suggests to me that he might well be a practitioner of the Sikh faith? In which case he's unlikely to know a deal about cutting hair.

Without doubt the best chippy I've ever used was the 'Fisherman's Wife' at the back of Kirkgate Market (George Street?) in Leeds, though when I mentioned it to someone recently, they told me that it'd been knocked down as part of the city centre's redevelopment; so one more thing to hate Leeds for.
