Ajax v Chelsea
Ajax disallowed goal?,can a forward not be played onside any more By an opposition player ,the shot came off a Chelsea defender then the Ajax player scored.
Have I missed something?

Re: Ajax v Chelsea
Not seen it but did the ball go forward before touching the defender?
Re: Ajax v Chelsea
From your description of the incident he would have been in an offside position at the point when his colleage shot.Steve1956 wrote:Ajax disallowed goal?,can a forward not be played onside any more By an opposition player ,the shot came off a Chelsea defender then the Ajax player scored.

Re: Ajax v Chelsea
Not seen it but if the player was offside when the attacker played the ball and it just deflected off the defender then the forward is offside at the point of the initial pass
If the defender makes a deliberate attempt to play the ball and deflects it to the forward I believe that becomes a new phase and the forward is not offside.
Not 100% if ive explained it perfectly and the rule may have changed but it was something along those lines

Might be why then. Guessing the decision was made prior to it touching the defender.Steve1956 wrote:Yes,then it hit the Chelsea defender then the forward scored
