Sean Dyche Q & A

Post by Goodclaret » Wed Oct 23, 2019 9:59 pm

Evening all.

Just to let you know we (Earby Clarets Supporters) have a Q and A evening with our main man, Mr Dyche, tomorrow evening. Billy Mercer is also joining him. It's a 17.30 start at The Albion Hall in Earby and open to all interested. There will also be a pie and pea supper :D

Cheers and hope to see some of you there!

Disappointed that they don't have Steak and Kidney Pudding and peas ---you can get pies all over the country but puddings are not readily available! ;)

I wonder if a lot of Earby Clarets will miss the start because they were late leaving the pub.

Me too, though a few years back, after an extended period abroad I did a short contract based in Seacroft on the edge of Leeds and discovered that a couple of hundred yards from the office was a really good butchers shop. Lunch every day was a pork pie and a cornish pasty, plus I got a couple of each to carry me through the weekend, along with regular purchases from their extensive range of sausages and other pies for tea; it was gastronomic heaven, but on the downside I reckon I put on about 7kg in weight over just ten weeks!

Not long after Sean took over at Burnley he did a Q an A. at my golf club Nelson. He was accompanied that night by Barry Kilby.
What a fantastic evening.Sean was so open and honest with his answers and it was a fantastic evening.I am certain you will have a great time Goodclaret, please let us know how it went.

Tonights Dyche Q&A

Post by MACCA » Thu Oct 24, 2019 9:43 pm

Went to Earby clarets Q&A evening with Mr Dyche.

We all already know it, but what a guy.
Straight as they come, open and honest, and due to the relaxed atmosphere was his joking lighthearted self.

Such a privilege to have him in charge.

In short...

Wants to keep Jeff, they're in dialogue but it isn't as simple as just offering him what he wants and signing him on, as we can't just double wages. Hopefully some news soon.

JBG and Vydra always look grumpy, neither barely crack a smile but are happy.

Trippier is his all time favourite player

He often chats with Duff and Barton, bits of advice hear and there.

Rubbished fall outs with Gray.

Thinks Michael Oliver is the countries best ref, wouldn't say who ge thought was the worst.

Doesnt have a clue what Mee has to do to get an England call up

Money is available in Jan

Billy mercer thinks Pope is genuinely the best English GK about

Thinks this is his best and strongest squad due to depth.

Jay Rod was 10m this summer, last summer they wanted 20m

Chris Wood has a hamstring injury and is a doubt for Sat, Barnes and Cork could feature

He's had a bene n hot, and quite likes it

Says the first win at Ewood and walking out way after full time to the fans still bouncing was a fantastic experience

Plus much more I'll probably remember tomorrow.

Long may he reign!

Edit - some more that popped into my head...

Said his dream job ( not his ambition or goal ) was to manage Manchester United, due to the size if the club globally and the challenge it would bring. Also the transition they're currently in.

Regards Gibson, said he knew he would have a challenge getting in when he signed, but the form of the current 2 is just life, but he is a top pro, and was very unlucky at the start of his time here with 2 injuries

Billy Mercer said training with the 3 England goalkeepers at one was like having 3 women, as if you spent more time with 1, the other 2 got the face on.

SD thinks Liverpool will win the league

Likes and supports VAR and has only got angry over it on Saturday because the ref briefed him and the coaches on what would happen and what he would do in certain situations, then didn't bother.

Said players and refs don't banter on the field anymore as the refs will write a report on it.

Said diving isnt just a foreign thing, and English players are doing it, fans are accepting it and dont seem to want it out of the game.

And obviously the most important part of the evening the pie and peas were excellent, sadly they ran out of steak by the time I had got there, but as chance would have it there were 2 stuck together so managed to sample a cheese and a meat with peas and gravy.
Very nice indeed, bit there was no pepper about.

It's pretty clear his take on cup competitions is it's a chance for players to shine. If they win, they pretty much get another game. Another chance to impress.

Problem is he goes all out and changes the entire team. You gotta have a few regulars in there to help gel together ;)

I don't think it would have been out of order to ask. When fans are giving up their time and money to go and watch the least they should get is a serious attempt to win the game.

Thst was asked, however due to it being named after him , one paper ran a article when a person was glassed in their saying "man glasses in Sean Dyche's pub" implying it was his actual pub, so then obvious questions follow.

So he said he has to be very careful with things like that.

Also he wasnt happy with the way he's dressed on the board.

So it is just the cup games we lose you want to ask about, the ones he wins are the times he took it serious is that your way of thinking ? Do you include the Man City away games as games not taken serious in this question too ?

As for you needing to know the answer, you could have gone along and asked, what was it about having to ask this question in public that put you off ?

Sadly they had ran out of Steak when I got to the front, however I was very lucky to find a cheese and a meat and potatoe stuck together... and they were very nice, good elping of peas and gravy over the top.
However got to mention the lack of pepper available. I do like a sprinkle of pepper.

Someone asked how close Barnes and Cork were, SD response was
"Barnsey trained today, so should be in contention should nothing flair up over night obviously, but Woody also is a doubt ( THINK he said hamstring) so will see how they go"

It would be silly to risk Wood against Chelsea if he's touch and go. Hamstrings can put you out for a long time.

He said Gibson understood and was a great professional. Continued to work hard and he saw no issues with his attitude.

He thought Long was also underestimated.

Whilst he thought Tarks had a dip last season he is back up there, he thought Mee and Tarks should be both close to the England squad

It wasn’t that, the mood was good and there wasn’t a long enough pause in between questions for me to go.

I’ll ask this one.

Bottled it, to be fair.
