Taylor
Taylor
Was it just me that thought when Taylor played due to Pieters injury we looked a lot better, and we have been missing that drive on the left hand side and interchange higher up the pitch, as well as the solid defensive duty? I just dont understand why someone one of his calibre and age are wasted sat on the bench. Dyche must see something in training presumably.

Re: Taylor
Could it be that SD sees he has someone of equal calibre already has the shirt - and under SD's mantra of team before ego it is for Pieters to lose his grip on the shirt rather than the other way round. Taylor and Pieters are both excellent players with slightly different strengths and both will do the job when out there for a game. Charlie has to keep his self belief and wait for his opportunity. Once he starts a game it will then be his shirt to lose and Pieters will have to play the waiting game - just like Bardsley is doing

Re: Taylor
Taylor looked good when he came on. Having said that I have been impressed with Pieters who does not look out of place at this level. I’m surprised at some of the cricicism to be honest.Taylor is better going forward ( but then look at Pieters assists) but Pieters is pretty solid defensively.

In his Q and A this week, I think it was in his games for us he was impressed. Pieters that is.ClaretAL wrote:Was it just me that thought when Taylor played due to Pieters injury we looked a lot better, and we have been missing that drive on the left hand side and interchange higher up the pitch, as well as the solid defensive duty? He played really well but they did have their right back sent off two minutes after he came on. Pieters has been excellent though and is earning his place on merit.ClaretAL wrote:Was it just me that thought when Taylor played due to Pieters injury we looked a lot better, and we have been missing that drive on the left hand side and interchange higher up the pitch, as well as the solid defensive duty? I really don't think there's much between them, both have their own individual qualities and we're fortunate to have them both.
I'll leave it to SD to decide, and I'll go along with him.

Re: Taylor
Taylor’s better IMO but Pieters and or the team have to start doing badly for the change to happen. Nothing unusual about that, it’s how 90% of clubs are run.
Re: Taylor
Agreed absolutely fantastic position to be in when you consider other clubs struggling to find a good left back. But for me Taylor is wasting away his prime years on the bench, and Pieters although very good needs to give the attacker a few yards which has caught us out a few times when he is caught in no mans land between the player and stopping the cross.

Re: Taylor
I don’t think the manager agrees with you. I think Pieters has been excellent. Taylor is hardly wasting away his prime years but no matter what the team comes first and some players miss out.ClaretAL wrote:Agreed absolutely fantastic position to be in when you consider other clubs struggling to find a good left back. Re: Taylor
Today again for me Taylor would have been the better option, but i get our point Dyche knows more, but in my naive mind Taylor offers a lot more. I dont have anything against Pieters and he isnt far behind Taylor at all for me, i just think Taylor attacks the player and stops the cross better and also going forward is better.

We certainly need Bardsley back on the right. If Bardsley comes back Taylor needs bringing back on the left to give us more bite going forward and balance the side

Pieters should not be in this team ahead of Taylor.
Re: Taylor
Pleased we signed Pieters. But I also think Taylor should be starting.
Re: Taylor
I'm amazed anyone can dispassionately look at the respective performances of Pieters and Taylor, and conclude that Pieters is the better choice at left-back.

When Taylor played we looked a better side, than with Pieters . But we should be used to certain players not being considered for a starting role no matter how the regulars are playing.

Re: Taylor
Dyche makes so many mistakes. I just wish he’d read this board and change the team as guided by the insightful majority on here so we can take up our rightful place back in the championship.....
Or he could just continue making us better every season as he does
Or he could just continue making us better every season as he does
Re: Taylor
Pieters is what I'd class as a typical Dyche player. Steady, does exactly what he's told, 6 out of 10 every week. Similar to a lot of our squad. Unfortunately it means our younger, better left back who is still at an age where he can improve is stuck on the bench.

Are we talking about the one that continually backs off so the opponent can take all night to put his cross in?
You're obviously an expert left back. How would you solve this?

He's clearly on another wind up. Taylor is streets ahead of Pieters.CharlieinNewMexico wrote:Best left back in who's opinion?

You really have a ridiculous view of our great manager. Loses face....really
He brought Taylor in too. The only difference being it took months for him to get a game....

The same Dyche who played Ben Mee out of position at left back for 6 months whilst we had the left back in the league sat on the bench. He isn't always right.Hibsclaret wrote:Seems to be Dyche’s opinion or in other words the one that counts

Re: Taylor
Dyche made two mistakes yesterday he shouldn't have played cork by doing this he changed the midfield from the Leicester game who played quite well.
He should of left Brady out wide and Hendrick in the middle, Jack Cork has been poor for quite a while now saying that he played better today against Chelsea but his overall game over a good few months going back to last season has been poor.
Taylor should also have been left in the team he help's McNeil out better than Pieters.

Yeah, I agree. Gets knocked about far too easily. He did a lot of leg-work running about breaking up play, but sometimes I would love to see him drive forward with the ball into space rather than always opting for a simple sideways or backwards pass.

I've complained for a long time now that he isn't strong enough in the tackle, just as you state, but yesterday was his best game for a hell of a long time, and he did win balls in the tackle, and did use it well when he won it. It's easy to forget just how good the 2 centre mids he and Westwood were up against yesterday, but if Jack continues to play like yesterday, I'll be delighted.
As for Charlie it's difficult. I think there isn't a lot between them. I would go Charlie for his age, and he will only get better with more game time, but Sean has always been loyal, and Pieters hasn't done a lot wrong to warrant dropping. He could have been closer to Willian for the 4th, but nobody is perfect. If we picked the team based on one mistake and your out, then Tarks and Westwood will be on the bench next Saturday.......

Pieters was a bit unlucky with the first half shot that deflected straight to the keeper but let’s all lambast him for the 4th goal when the games already gone.
The person Dyche has intimated as to most of the blame is Tarky because it is really the 2nd goal that is the killer and that’s the one Dyche is most disappointed about..

The shirt is yours until you do stop performing well enough to keep it or get injured. Dyche doesn't do 'better' players. That's the point of us having competition in the squad.
