Southampton vs Leicester
I've just turned it on, Leicester 1 up and Southampton down to 10 men.
Even though last weekend was annoying, I see Leicester as finishing in the top 4 and therefore any hammering over Southampton is what I'd prefer.

Was that a red really? Looked a bit harsh to me.

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
I actually missed the challenge. I turned it on just as they were surrounding the ref and the card came out for Bertrand.Granny WeatherWax wrote:Was that a red really? Looked a bit harsh to me.

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
Very harsh. Compare it to Coleman on Pieters. A very much worse tackle yet only yellow. It is the lack of consistency with decisions that is vilifying VAR.

I agree. The commentary team were so quick to praise VAR it’s almost liked they’ve been told too....Leyland Claret wrote:Leicester....the new darlings of the Premier League. No way was that a straight red IMO

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
It was an obvious red.
Like Wood's goal last week, VAR made the decision because the ref didn't see it.

I love it. Clearest red card offense you'll ever see without fists flying and some of you are still questioning it because it's VAR.

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
Have a feeling Leicester have benefited by var several times already this season, is it four after last weeks debacle??
Could have possibly got away with the tackle, or a booking at worst without super slo-mo analysis

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
Definite red. Studs up, just below the knee. He didn't mean it but that isn't the point any longer.
As mentioned above it's the inconsistencies that are so annoying. There have been worse challenges than that this season which haven't seen red. Interesting to see it shown, in detail, on the big screen which will confirm the decision in the ground.
Saints will be in for a real pounding tonight as I don't think Leicester are a team to think 3 goals is enough, they are pretty ruthless this season.

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
It's not hard to understand, VAR will not overturn a referee's decision if their version of what happened matches the video footage.

Re: Southampton vs Leicester
Bit of both I'd say. 5 goals from only 8 shots on target mixed with Southampton going down to 10.ClaretTony wrote:Are Leicester really good or are Southampton awful or is it a bit of both?
I expect Leicester to finish 3rd or 4th though.

Fair enough, I suppose VAR can also refer to the bloke watching the screens as well as the technology itself.Granny WeatherWax wrote:I’m still chuckling at Joey and Paul thinking VAR is some form of automaton.
