Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
I left early when we were playing QPR in ‘75, because my dad insisted it would stay 0-0, and it’s better to beat the crowd.

Back home from the pub today! Saving the drinking till later and having my tea.
In actual attendance once, I think we were 5-0 down at half-time at home to Gillingham and I thought well if you're not going to try, don't expect my support of that.

Why are todays early leavers any different to early leavers on other games?

I live 40 miles away not in Burnley. I had a long standing arrangement before the game was switched for tv. Why am I a joke for leaving 15 mins early? At least I turned up to cheer on my team for 75 mins. Get a life you Muppet.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Those that left today were embarrassing and shouldn’t bother ever coming back again. What a joke.

Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
I get why some people have to leave at certain times when they have to catch train busses etc, but around 30% of the tur emptied today when the 3rd goal went in and thats embarrassing, and another 20% when the 4th went. So that is not down to timetables etc, so no excuse for them. Ad by the way you missed the probable goal of the season.

I left today at 70 minutes - purely because I had somewhere to be... I'd have more than likely stayed if it was a 17:00 kick off

You started the dishing out out of abuse. You don't seem to be able to accept the fact that some people have to leave early. Why is that any of your business, or more to the point, a problem to you?cricketfieldclarets wrote:And i did for 90 minutes. Pathetic personal abuse.

Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
I left after the 4th, I'm not ashamed to admit it either. I've done my time being hardcore staying til the end no matter what. Now I go to the turf to see a good game of football, and if I can avoid the tedious queuing for the bus home I will do just that. The result wasn't in doubt, and I wasn't going to waste half an hour of my time staying when I could be home sooner than normal.

Left after the 4th, which I thought was loyal enough, snubbing the accepted ‘three goal rule’.

Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
Left as the pen was awarded.
I've never seen us come back from anymore than 2-0 down so twice as many as that seemed fair enough.
Left Notts Country at 3-0 years ago because an earlier train would get me home about two hours earlier.
But I've sat through enough **** to realise that it makes naff all difference if you stay to the end.

I left after the 4th went in today. Didn’t mind that I missed the consolation goals, as they were just that; consolations. I was already having a pint in the Tim Bobbin when they went in.

Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
I did. I blame Father Jack, who I sit with, for tempting me to go with him as he escaped at 0-4 just because his dad (chorleyclaret) was recovering at home from an operation and wasn't there to make us remain til the end. Missed both our goals but had an incredibly easy drive out of town to the M65 - and got to watch the goals when I stopped for a brew at Knutsford Services, and again on MOTD since then too.Paul Waine wrote:How many who'd already posted on this thread that they'd never left a game earlier - changed their mind earlier today?

Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
... When Burnley reduced it to 4-2 at home I could at least sing a bit (to the tune of 10 men went to mow):
Two more goal for the clarets
Two more goals to Burnley
Two more goals for the clarets
TWO MORE GOALS TO BURNLEY!
(Repeat loudly till your neighbours call the police)

Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
I left after the 3rd. I 99% of the time enforce the 3 goal rule. I go to more or less every match though so I’ll do what I want.
Re: Have you ever left a Clarets game early?
I’ve no issue with folk leaving early or turning up late or going off for a pint before half time. You pays your money you take your choice.
However, have some consideration for those who have to move to let you out. There’s an old bloke on our row who always leaves early and every time he makes sure the ball is out of play before moving. Others don’t care.

Really? You need to get a grip!! Not a true fan! Our fans today could have watched it ALL on telly, but either: a- paid for a season ticket, or b- paid for a ticket as a walk on, therefore fully having the right to stay till the end, OR, leave early. Do I have to let you know what I'm having for my tea in case you don't agree with it?cricketfieldclarets wrote: I've reported your post.

Must be a wonderful feeling for you, believing you are a true fan. Give yourself a pat on the back for not leaving early, as I said before,I had somewhere else to be. I also believe I am a true fan, just that I have a life, a social life, and my whole existence does not revolve around a 5.30 pm kick off.You need a reality check.

So you’re a true fan til 3-0 down and then you become too busy to support the team
