Before VAR they would have been mobbed. I'm kind of impressed by how little mobbing i've seen this season.Firthy wrote:Just shows the difference between football and rugby with respect to the officials. Amazing performance
If it had ended 30-0 l, the Kiwis couldn't have complained, such was the dominance from England
Great to watch.

Re: Eng v NZL world cup semi ( Rugby )
Absolutely gobsmacked and overjoyed. England totally dominated the game and the All Blacks, the result never really looked in doubt. The All Blacks didn't play bad, they just weren't allowed to play such was Englands dominance. Never thought I'd see that in my lifetime.

Superb performance. Dominated and only let them get on the score sheet with a monumental balls up.
Don’t see the point comparing football and rugby. Two completely different games.

Great stuff, England.
Now will it be Wales or South Africa in the final? - I think I'd prefer the Welsh.

It'd be the first time a WC final hasn't included a southern hemisphere side.

That was shocking ! In a good way. We didn’t just win, we totally dominated. Was a bit worried after the second disallowed try as I thought England heads went down for a while.

Also, that win probably puts England top of the world rankings.
Re: Eng v NZL world cup semi ( Rugby )
I'd prefer South Africa. Wales always seem to up their game against us and we struggle when we play them. I'll still be cheering for Wales tomorrow though.Redbeard wrote:Great stuff, England.

So much to be impressed about today. No excuses or blame from the All Blacks coach or NZ pundits just total honesty that they were beaten by a better team on the day.

I think it’s a very apt comparison. Or are you saying that footballers are generally lower class and therefore can’t act in a sportsmanlike way?Wile E Coyote wrote:Oh god, not that respect thing again, I've been hearing that for decades.

Fair enough but let's agree to disagree. The fact you consider it elitist with a miniscule following IMO shouldn't make any difference in how players should respect officials.

Not referencing celebrations but the respect for officials and their decisions.Spijed wrote:Imagine if there was a quick handshake when a goal was scored and all the players then jogged back to the half way line.

This could be like cricket with me. I don't like either, and don't know a lot of the rules, but may watch the final anyway.

Amazing game and result. Outstanding defending and didn’t let NZ play from the off. Very dominant performance.

rugby union relies heavily on BBC to hype it up, then the lesser commercial stations jump aboard the bandwagon and attempt to make it sound like a big affair.Spijed wrote:If the England football team had got to the final of the World cup the national interest would be ramped up by x1000 at least.

For all that rugby players do respect referees who know what they're doing, after they'd finished with him he might not be breathing at all...

Firstly they don’t all sound like Royals. Secondly how the hell does it affect someone’s ability or how good they are. If a Tour De France winner sounds like he’s privately educated does that mean it’s kess of an achievement or it should be less popular. Most of the officers in WW2 would have sounded ‘posh’ but it’s a good job they were good at what they did and we all got behind them.Wile E Coyote wrote:rugby union relies heavily on BBC to hype it up, then the lesser commercial stations jump aboard the bandwagon and attempt to make it sound like a big affair.

That's exactly what we had when I first started watching, and it was fine. Personally I find the modern goal celebrations pathetic, It's a pity that you feel that you need them to brighten up the game, doesn't say a lot for the football that's being played.Spijed wrote:Imagine if there was a quick handshake when a goal was scored and all the players then jogged back to the half way line.

Would our first win against Man U in the Prem with Blake's wonder goal been as special had there been a quick shake of the hands, respectful applause and a jog back to the kick-off, for example?boatshed bill wrote:That's exactly what we had when I first started watching, and it was fine. Likewise, the celebrations at the final whistle against Sheff United in the play-off final?

No problem with the first disallowed try but Georges hand/arm never left the ball so how could he pass it forward? He actually had the ball stolen from him by a teammate.
Thank god it didn’t affect the outcome and how immense our guys were. Nobody makes All Blacks look average but they did today.
They played the players in front of them and not the jerseys. Loved the way they fronted them up at the Hakka. Farrell even laughing at them.
