Post by FactualFrank » Sun Oct 27, 2019 4:32 pm

Wow, what a start.

47 seconds and Spurs go 1 up.

I was actually going to say that if Spurs lost 4-0 (a possibility before KO) we would go above them! :)

Can't see Liverpool not scoring, tbh.

About to post a similar thing. Gazzaniga is keeping the score as it is.

Been an entertaining half. Made more so because Spurs took the lead.

Good game management by Spurs,of course if that was Burnley some people would call it time-wasting.

Sometimes I wonder whether it would be better for a team like Spurs today to think, "You know what - we're going for goal 2" - and actually attack Liverpool determined to grab a second goal. Almost play like Spurs need the goal.

I think if they push forward too much they’d just get picked off. Liverpool put you under so much pressure. It’s almost like having to contend with how it was in Shankly’s time there. Liverpool, I think, have been brilliant today.

Deserved lead for Liverpool from the pen spot. Horrible defending from Aurier.

A Kop-end penalty if there ever was one. The initial foul is by Mane - clearly puts his leg across the Spurs player’s.

Whatever happens today, it’s very definitely a top two now. They are miles ahead of anyone else.

I think Leicester may have something to say about that. And Chelsea will likely have a say in the outcome if not quite challenge for top2.

100%. Leicester, Chelsea and Spurs I think have a very real chance of toying it out for 3rd and 4th, but Liverpool/City are light years ahead of anybody else.

Mane putting his leg between Aurier and the ball is not a foul. Ball in playing distance of Mane, so just shielding the ball.

It will be a battle for third - even though Leicester & Chelsea are only two points away from Man City I think City's class will tell in the end and they are the only team who can compete up there with Liverpool.

Exactly what George Boyd did to Shane Duffy when we beat out neighbours with Andre Grays penalty. Nobody complained then and they shouldn’t today. Totally different to what Jiminez pulled on Pieters, then he had no control and was obstructing the clearance.
