Best / Worst Comedy Panel Shows

Post by FactualFrank » Mon Oct 28, 2019 3:13 pm

As we're working our way through the lists... these are all of course dependent on which guests are on.

Best
Mock the week
Would I lie to you
8 out of 10 cats
8 out of 10 cats does countdown
QI (educational, but would also class it as comedy)

Worst
A league of their own (sorry, but cannot stand James Cordon and Frederick Flintoff, if he's still on)
Have I got news for you
Never mind the buzzcocks
Celebrity Juice

I used to enjoy A Question of Sport before it started trying too hard to be funny. I know it isn't a `comedy' panel show as such. Try hard rubbish.

I still record A Question of Sport and watch most of them. Not sure I would consider it comedy though in the sense of category, even though it can be funny.

So you've watched, "Would I lie to you" - and you don't find it funny?

Fair enough. I thought the neighbours would be knocking on the door when I watched this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzOf0Li2xYg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Ok - completely down to taste.
Personally I think it’s brilliant and it’s my favourite by a mile.
I like Mock the Week, QI and 8 out of 10 too - it’s all about the quality of the guests.
I don’t mind Have I got News for you - but like others it’s got a bit stale and guests aren’t great these days.

I went to the filming of 8 out 10 does Countdown last Wednesday - been 3 or 4 times before. It’s a really good night - lasts about 2 hours and then gets edited down for the TV. Filmed in Salford - would love to go to Would I Lie to You but it’s filmed down in London and it’s usually short notice when you get the invites through. Tickets are free btw - you just need to apply and hope you get picked.

That clip I posted above. Honestly - my stomach is hurting and I've only just watched it a second time. We must share a similarish sense of humour.

Hilarious.

HIGNFY is superior to Mock the Week in almost every way. The only thing that HIGNFY could take from Mock the Week to improve itself would be Hugh Dennis.

That was a brilliant clip from a couple of weeks ago in the first show of the new series - we have watched it 3 times already in our house.

My favourite guest on the show is Bob Mortimer -his stories (which are mostly true) are incredible. The way he tells them are genius...

Yep, I watched it when it was on. Series record, although I really can't do with Victoria Mitchell so skipped episode 2. Like I say, depends on who is on for them all really. Bob Mortimer - has he ever had one lie? The one with the teeth and his kitchen was brilliant.

Not all of them are funny, but you do get some absolute belters. Henning Wehn is another who has been on a few times and his are brilliant as well.

Yes, Chris Rea telling him to crack an egg in his bath.

8 out of 10 cats is good, until Jimmy Carr decides to throw his false "look at me, look at me" laugh out of my telly

Not a fan of Jon Richardson either, but love Sean Lock and as I say, a lot of it is down to who they have on. I do prefer it when Lee Mack takes over Richardson as captain.

Faves:
Would I Lie to You
Have I Got News for You
Whose Line is it Anyway (sorely missed!)
Shooting Stars (also sorely missed!)

Don't like:
Mock the Week (poor presenter)
Mash Report

Can't stand:
Anything with 'Keith Lemon'

Would I Lie to You, always guaranteed a laugh when it’s on. David Mitchell’s wife Victoria was on last week was good to see them on together,
