Apart from brief periods of revenge for long periods of oppression (as we saw with the cull of aristocrats after the French Revolution), its always the poor being oppressed by the wealthy.CrosspoolClarets wrote:Not being a racist means treating people of all races similarly, both in political decisions and generally in terms of respect. People are defined by what they do, not what race they are born into. Jews are not technically a separate race, hence the term antisemite, but it is as though they are in terms of this issue.
Can anyone honestly say equal treatment and respect applies to Corbyn? He has spent his life arguing against oppression, but only when it is the poor being oppressed. You cannot be selective on this issue.
Yesterday 50 Hamas missiles rained down on Tel Aviv from Gaza. I saw a clip of a missile bomb a road, missing two cars by what looked like inches. Where was Corbyn criticising that? Come to think of it, I haven't seen it on our news either. He was too busy on Twitter supporting the Bolivian tyrant who was deposed as leader.
The Jewish Chronicle seem to have a clear view of him. He is terrifying.
https://www.thejc.com/comment/leaders/t ... s-1.491812
As for Corbyn he always stands against violence by either side.

Remember that Johnson was the Govt so he effectively set it up for himself and then ducked out cos there were some British people want to make their feelings clear about him and his Brexit policy.dsr wrote:I have a suspicion that if the UK government set up a press conference for Corbyn with a crowd of Brexiteers as spectators, Corbyn wouldn't turn up either.
Which ever way you spin it if you're gonna have a go for Corbyn for doing a runner then you're gonna have to tar Johnson with the same brush

The courts are going to be busy once more.
SNP launch legal action over ITV debate
Nick Eardley
BBC political correspondent
The SNP announce they are taking legal action against ITV over its decision to exclude their leader from the channel's election debate next week.
This follows in the footsteps of the Lib Dems, who made a similar move on Monday.
ITV is hosting a primetime head-to-head between Conservative leader Boris Johnson and his Labour counterpart Jeremy Corbyn on 19 November.
And just in case Boris thought he'd dodged a bullet.
Legal threat over report into Russia election interference
Away from Boris Johnson's speech for a moment, his government could face a legal challenge to its decision to delay the publication of a report into claims of Russian interference in UK elections.
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism has written to Boris Johnson demanding the report's publication before the election and giving him six days to respond. The bureau says it will launch a judicial review if he refuses.
The government said it needed more time to be vetted.

Simple guide for Burnley constituents on how to vote in the General Election:
If you STRONGLY want to remain in the EU vote Lib Dem
If you STRONGLY want to leave the EU vote Conservative
If you don't feel STRONGLY about remaining or leaving then you should vote for any party that is offering policies which you find the most attractive.
A vote for the Brexit Party or any other independent candidate will be a completely wasted vote.

To follow up on this, the LD candidate for High Peak in Derbyshire (2322 Lab majority over Tories) has threatened to stand down, asking for a rethink of the leadership stance and disciplinary action against the Canterbury candidate, and an unreserved apology for the implied threat to other candidates. LD won 5% (2669 votes) in High Peak in 2017.Spiral wrote:Absolute madness tonight. It turns out is isn't a formal pact but rather the LD candidate voluntarily stepping down to help the Lab incumbent who has a majority of 187 (one hundred and eighty seven) over the Tories, who fielded a hard-brexiteer in 2017. But then LD HQ confirmed that there will be a replacement fielded, and that the LDs will fight Canterbury. However, the four approved potential candidates from the local LD party are now all refusing to stand, and the local association appears to be unwilling to play nice with the candidate Swinson will now need to parachute in from outside the constituency. It's thought local activists will campaign for other candidates in the surrounding seats. Local LD party and activists at loggerheads with LDHQ over strategy.

I think not debating is a deliberate policy to not have the platforms compared like for like next to each other. They know some people will see it as shirking, but they’re probably counting on holding on to more of their “outer core” vote when it’s harder for them to compare like for like.tiger76 wrote:Fine then empty-chair him like they did during the leadership debates,it shouldn't be for the political parties to dictate the agenda,if they shirk a debate it doesn't speak highly of their confidence in their policies does it,if they have no confidence in their own policies why should the general public.

Depends on your outlook.
For remainers, it’s the end of the universe. But actually you could rejoin the EU in the future if that was the countries wish.
For leavers, it’s the start hopefully of a brave new world, outside of the straight jacket of the EU.
The future cannot be predicted, you take your choice and hope your right.

But it isn't, its an election and whoever gets a majority will rule for five years.
Look, I get that Brexit is a major issue, but its not as important as public services/NHS etc etc
That will be a factor, simply because the Tories have been the ruling party for a while.
