Corbyn - where is the LEADERSHIP? You want to be Prime Minister and yet seem incapable of answering in what direction does he want to lead the country?

Corbyn’s glasses are making me feel sloshed, that’s before the three glugs for all the commitments he’s swerved. I couldn’t stomach the 4 glugs for the ‘we won’t do a deal with the SNP’, for laughing unfortunatelyHunterST_BFC wrote:If you are watching this.

The host terrible so far. Not allowing a debate to develop, not even allowing a 30 second answer. Should be 2 hours not 1.

He’s telling lies when he talks about 40 new hospitals. 40 hospitals have been given seed money to do a business case to see how much a new hospital will cost etc. I’ve seen the letter.

Corbyn glossing over that his own shadow health secretary was responsible for most of the NHS privatisation in it’s history, as an advisor to Gordon Brown as Chancellor and promoting those ruinous PFI deals.

Well that was all rather underwhelming. The host was terrible and quite clearly tried to cut Boris Johnson short on just about every topic he tried to reply to. Even on his final sum up. She just wouldn’t let him finish. Corbyn did his best to impersonate Fred Kite and that was just about it.

Re: General Election Is On
Utter dross of course from ITV. As expected.
It was clear that the Tories are going to focus on attack lines for the next few weeks, principally Corbyn not answering which side he would back.
Labour focusing on the NHS, but a Labour majority has only presided over the NHS for about 25 years of its 71 year existence and in that time did most of its privatisation and its damage (many PFI companies contracts restrict hospitals ability to change physical shape to meet changing needs, we can thank Mr PFI Jon Ashworth for that).
Not a clear winner but the format prevented that. As for those stupid questions at the end, give me strength.

Not what Jonathan Ashworth said on five live yesterday and not what we have been told.taio wrote:Corbyn's right hand man said it would apply to the NHS only the other day.
Labour know it would be impossible for NHS full time contracts to reduce to 30 hours (current full time is 37.5)
Maybe if we ever got to a point where there wasn’t a shortage of supply then we might be able to move towards it but that’s gonna take years and years given the lack of increase in funding nhs has seen since tories have been in.

Re: General Election Is On
Agreed but that is a deliberate tactic to make all the news bulletins focus on Corbyn’s indecision. Just like the £350m bus - they knew darn well it was just over £200m but decided it was best to goad the opposition into bringing up the subject time and again - now, in 2050 we will still recall the bus, and we’ll also recall Corbyn’s dithering.jrgbfc wrote:As expected Boris ducked any awkward questions and resorted to trotting out inane Brexit catchphrases.
Not pleasant tactics but it works.

The shadow health secretary said one thing while the shadow chancellor said another. So let's just say that Labour is unclear on the issue.Granny WeatherWax wrote:Not what Jonathan Ashworth said on five live yesterday and not what we have been told.

John McDonald said something like as the economy grows. Fair enough to aim for it but it will take years and years in the nhs , if it is even possible to get to that point

Agree it would be undeliverable so why did he say it? What was that phrase May kept repeating at the last election? I haven't seen them say it would apply immediately but if you have fair enough. You said it won't apply to the NHS (I agree with you). The shadow chancellor said it would apply to everybody and it's a realistic ambition over the next decade or words to that effect. So the Tories were right to pick up on this because of the damage it would inflict on the NHS and it seems you agree because you also think it would be undeliverable.Granny WeatherWax wrote:The tories were obviously trying to convince the less well read that labour would cripple the nhs by implementing it ‘tomorrow’.

"Strong and stable" was the Maybots catchphrases. Yeah I noticed that, obviously coming from Tories. Showing any kind of compassion for those less fortunate is clearly alien to your average Tory voter.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote:What was that phrase May kept repeating at the last election? Glad I missed it.
Not remotely interested in what either of them has to say so not surprised it being received so negatively by everyone.
Not a great time for UK politics and I hope whoever wins can somehow change the downward spiral we are in.

Who altered their twitter account during a live television debate to masquerade and give the appearance of an independent fact checking service which then only posted anti-labour content...
