That will be down to the Scottish electorate, but the more the unionist parties are seen to be blocking the Scottish people having a say,the more they'll alienate more voters, whether they are pro-indy or pro-union.

What happens now to the poor the disabled and the disadvantaged?
Serious question!
The only good news is that this must mean the end of Jeremy Corbyn
But who will succeed him?

Look on the (Not so) bright side, Labour are leading at the moment.

Spectacular levels of self-delusion, I've actually provided links to you lying but you still try and deny it. If anything has brightened up this sorry serial of incompetent parties, fake news and lying it's been you and your denial of reality.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 1:51 amSnipped because Ringo thinks "shouting" makes him big and clever
Ultimately I'll probably be personally better off under Johnson but I don't feel so confident it will benefit those feckers at the bottom.

I suspect this hefty majority will lead to an unsatisfying Brexit for many of those who think that Brexit will see a big split from the EU and a huge cut in immigration. The ERG will be sidelined, the Brexit party is gone, Johnson will favour a gentle hit to the economy, even if it involves sucking up to the EU, rather than his reputation taking a hit with an economic collapse under hard brexit.

Everytime i have seen him he couldn't wait to say "Peoples Vote" at every opportunity. That coupled with his implicity in the Iraq war..his record isn't the best in recent times.claret_in_exile wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 2:08 amWasn't he kicked out of the Labour Party for not bowing down to the Corbyn cult?

And he made an excellent point - excluding Blair, no Labour leader has completed a full-term in power for 50 years.
Re: General Election Is On
Mood at the EU summit is that, they believe, Johnson, unencumbered by the hardline eurosceptics in his party, will be tempted by the bait of a quick deal negotiated on EU terms with possibly huge levels of alignment. In all honesty a trade agreement materially similar to that of Norway would be perfect because it assuages the deepest fears of remainers, and the leavers will have forgotten about 'making our own trade deals' in the euphoria of victory. A fudge, essentially. Out of the EU and with no power of influence, but materially unchanged.aggi wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 2:11 amI suspect this hefty majority will lead to an unsatisfying Brexit for many of those who think that Brexit will see a big split from the EU and a huge cut in immigration. Re: General Election Is On
One factor for whomever wants to run Labour next is Momentum, the grassroots campaigning organisation which did so much to propel Jeremy Corbyn into power and keep him there.
Laura Parker, who runs the group, says it is "unquestionable that Labour's policies are popular" and there is "absolutely no appetite to go back to the centrist policies of old".
But she says the party was "squeezed by Brexit and it was the defining issue".
Ms Parker said: "Against that storm, we built a huge movement of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people and they won't stop until we see real change in this country.
"We will resist Johnson's attempt to destroy our NHS. We will keep the Labour Party socialist.
"We will build a Britain for the many, not the few."
Doesn't sound like momentum are backing down, whether Corbyn goes or not, wouldn't surprise me if they where daft enough to elect someone like Diane Abbott, you'd imagine the parliamentary party won't nominate another far-left candidate to the membership, but that could cause internal problems within the party itself.

*might be tempted, not will be tempted, to clarify my last post. But they're unsure what Johnson will turn up. I think he'll take the most reconciliatory path possible out of self preservation. He's won big, including among folk who don't care for the details. He doesn't need to play to the fringes anymore.

A brutal interview with Jess Philips on Sky News there. Clearly not supporting Corbyn but gutted in general.

England is finished!
Labour has been wrecked. It will get an eternal 30% unless it broadens its appeal.
Things can only get better mark 2 needed!

First, yes, I hold my hand up. I did think that you were a p*** take to discredit me. A bit like when people set up bogus twitter accounts. So I give you a sincere apology. Absolutely.Elizabeth wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 1:32 amRingo, I do feel you have been picked on unfairly and it looked to me that you had to resort to certain ' crazy' methods to stand up to the posters you have quite rightly singled out. As they started from a point of weakness they should have showed more willingness to debate fairly, so I think you were justified.
I post as someone who has been consistently undermined , accused of being your alter ego. Like yourself I have not let these same posters wear me down.
I think the only thing I would like to read as you 'celebrate' your ' victory' is some kind of apology for accusing me of being one of these posters , albeit at a time I think you were under some stress
When I first joined this messageboard after Claretsmad I , for a good couple of years , engaged with other posters, assuming fellow clarets would be fair, basically. Eventually I realised it was absolutely pointless. I watched others get exactly the same treatment. There's a gaggle of rather cowardly remoaners and left wing , so called, "liberals" who've regularly turned on any individual who've put their head above the parapet. I've seen exactly the same tactics used over and over again on other posters. It hasn't just been me by any stretch. Consequently, I gave up trying to be reasonable, genuinely prepared to have a fair minded debate. It was pointless, so I treat most if them with the sheer contempt they'd come to deserve.
Bizarrely, had they been more reasonable, this moment may not feel as grand as it does! Many , many of the things I predicted came to pass. Many of the views I expressed have proven to be shared by the vast , vast majority of British people. The results coming through prove it and tonight vindicates pretty much most of what I've been saying for the last 3 and a half years!
DEMOCRACY- MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, I SEEM TO WIN
