Wrongo even used to trot out a few facts to back up his arguments. But then facts kept embarrassing him and they had a massive falling out so Wrongo refuses to even look at facts or acknowledge facts exist anymore.Devils_Advocate wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 9:43 amRingo's become a bit like Nigel Farage. To Andrew JB. Andrew, I can see from your post that you are not a Marxist. You say that power resides within the political system, but Marx is very clear in pointing out that real power resides within the economic system. Hence his view that the ability of democratic governments to serve the interests the proletariat is severely limited. There is a lot to be said for that view.

You should let others be the judge of that!
Besides, even if it is a lie it’s hardly comparable with the Tory whoppers. Covering up why you were slagging off your boss behind his back v lying about not creating a border down the Irish Sea for example. Or lying about the number of hospitals you’re going to build, etc, etc.

Re: General Election Is On
I have had a look at the final Yougov MRP polling and it seems like the key to the whole thing is the Brexit Party and whether it really will get that share of the vote in northern seats. If it does, welcome to Number 10 Mr Corbyn, do your worst.
I hope (but don’t expect) that the MRP algorithms have got this wrong because they haven’t pulled in (say) Burnley directly, but have applied national findings to Burnley’s demographic.
It’s weird. Ashworth’s right, the Labour voter vibe is downright hostile in these seats, they cannot find enough votes, we all know that just from listening to clips from focus groups, yet Yougov have them close to a hung parliament. Somebody is wrong and tomorrow night could be surprising. My money is on a small majority of about 20 but with no confidence.

People's vote tomorrow.
Remain in the EU - vote Labour or Lib Dem
Leave the EU - vote Conservative
It's still just as difficult a decision to make as it was three and a half years ago so think carefully and MAKE SURE YOU VOTE.

You’re only guaranteed a true Brexit with the Brexit Party. If you want to leave the EU you should vote Brexit Party.

Brexit aside, this all comes down to whether enough northern working class people will ever try voting for free market economics, with the risk and reward that entails. If they vote for Corbyn and all his baggage, and against Johnson who is more engaging than any other Tory, that is what they are choosing not to do.
I fear that if they turn the Tories down this time, the Tory party will give up and turn their back on the north - for good.

Re: General Election Is On
Everyone is focusing on whether Labour leavers will vote for the Tories in enough numbers to bring home the majority, but I think it will depend on Tory remainers and whether they switch to Lib Dem’s in enough numbers to lose Tory seats in South. My gut feeling is that Labour will lose some “leave area” seats but not has many as projected but in the South the fear of Corbyn and how it might affect wealth might just tip the balance for them to begrudgingly vote Tory again.
In 2017 whilst the polls pointed to a Tory majority in the final week we had outlier polls that had the gap close and even one with Labour in the lead and we haven’t had that this time and even yesterday the big YouGov poll put the Tories 9pts up.
You can get 9/4 on a no overall majority which equates to around 30% and I feel that is about right. My feeling is Tory majority in single figures, but even if the they get 322 or above with Sinn Fein and Speaker discounted Johnson will probably still get Brexit over the Line as he has no “Guakeward squad” this time.

Marty, a cursory glance at last nights chat on here will show you were well and truly schooled about the effects of labour and their taxation plans. That is until you mysteriously , and unusually, disappeared into the ether when you were asked a couple of tricky questions and finally ran out combining pedantry, goalpost shifting and flying in the face of reality!
You should probably stop there to avoid looking even more silly!

Re: General Election Is On
But thats not the case with this. Ashworth is stating he wasnt being serious and others are saying thats rubbish. You are one of the first when people are accused of certain things to demand good proof and evidence and whilst everyone can have their own opinion there is nothing in this that is factually demonstrable as a lie.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:05 pmThat's the biggest problem in politics or in fact life. If we took this as the standard of proof for categorically concluding something was a lie then pretty much everything that comes out of the Tory's and Brexit Party's mouths and media machines could equally be considered a lie.
Re: General Election Is On
I’ll say it again and maybe it’ll sink in. If Labour are able to get into power and implement their tax plans their front bench will earn well in excess of £80k and will therefore pay more tax on those earnings over £80k. So they very much are in their own taxation cross hairs. Now you can keep on denying it if you want but you’ll just make yourself look even more stupid.RingoMcCartney wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 1:07 pmThe only one shifting focus is you Marty !
