Inexcusable
0 shots on target. That is pathetic.
Worryingly can think of multiple games just last season that this happened. Istanbul, Wolves and Man City at least from memory.
That is the worse stat of all from today.

Chelsea/Sheffield game absolutely abysmal.
Fortunately Villa didn't win and Southampton lost again.
We need to do something quickly.

Dire performance away, again. No get-out-of-jail-free card, this time. We’re in a relegation battle; make no mistake about that.

But more importantly, what were our expected goals for and against?

It’s our pathetic hoofball and lack of options both in the squad and tactically which are hurting us.
At some point we are going to have to improve the squad and expand our style of play?

It's fine Dyche will hand his resignation in like any reasonable chap.
His tactics s are terrible
His tactics s are terrible
Re: Inexcusable
The problem is all these players Dyche brings in don’t improve us at all, Brady, Rodriguez, Drinkwater, Vydra, Gibson, Hart, Pieters, Bardsley, Wells. A colossal waste of money combined, expensive squad fillers. 15 million quid on a 4th choice central defender and 13 million quid on a 5th choice striker? Why? Why wasn’t that money invested in 1 or 2 players to slot straight into the first 11. Vydra and Gibson are fine players but they were never gonna feature here in a 442 and Dyche doesn’t strike me as a 352 type.

Re: Inexcusable
Hardly inexcusable.
The previous games this season we have been nowhere near as bad as today. We miss Wood badly but today was all about not having a clue how to deal with their formation more than anything else. Also, one day we might get a decision....should have had 2 definite pens and 1 I’ve seen given....

Like **** the 15 million quid on a 4th choice central defender, bring in a Gary Cahill free signing (I know we signed Gibson the year prior, so John Terry on a free) and invest 10 million into a first choice right back.

Re: Inexcusable
The best football we’ve played under Dyche was in the first half of 2017/18. We weren’t playing 4-4-2 then, and we weren’t launching it at every opportunity.Right_winger wrote:It’s our pathetic hoofball and lack of options both in the squad and tactically which are hurting us.

It isn’t just tactics that have made us regress back to being reliant on one single system and way of playing, its recruitment for me. We’ve had ample opportunity to sign more creative players, and we’ve just not done it.

Re: Inexcusable
Last week I felt we were unlucky at times - today we were awful.
Our game management is beyond bad, we must be one of the worst teams for conceding around half time. Tarks and Mee have lost the ability to pass 10 yards.
Need to stop the rot

Re: Inexcusable
We’ve been moderate at the very best this season and bloody awful at times like today .We desperately miss a high end driving midfielder and hopefully DD not too far off. Taylor back is a big plus too, while Wood is no wonderkid ,it’s never easy missing your in form striker . Good chance to redeem next week home against the hammers . It’s a vastly open prem this year and no reason whatsoever SD won’t quickly turn this around

Re: Inexcusable
This will continue to happen until we actually sign some players that are capable of flair, creativity and forward thinking.
The team is full of workhorse type players that simply just put in a shift, results like today happen when they don’t, and hoof it forward in hope of “something” happening.
Get the ball on the bloody floor and play football, even more so when your target man isn’t playing.

Re: Inexcusable
I agree. We lack far too much technical ability. Other clubs such as Sheffield United can find them, so there's no excuse to put it down to wages/fees. We just cannot spot them as well as any other side in the Premier League, and a lot of Championship sides. That's worrying.buzzclarets79 wrote:This will continue to happen until we actually sign some players that are capable of flair, creativity and forward thinking.

If we do find someone decent, we have to pay an awful lot for them. We're overpaying due to our lack of scouting ability.

Next week, changes are Taylor in, Cork to the bench, replaced by Hendrick, who is replaced by Brady. If Wood is fit he returns alongside Barnes who should be match fit now.

Re: Inexcusable
We were awful today.
I had to endure this in the home end and it was embarrassing to hear the opinions of the Blades fans on us, and I didn’t blame them at all for what I heard.
However, a little bit of perspective, we were absolutely fine against Chelsea. They were clinical, we were not. The performance level bar two terrible errors in that game was not a cause for concern. Leicester away, not a great performance but SHOULD have had a point but for a terrible decision.
I won’t be jumping on board the neggy bus yet. Let’s see how we do next Saturday.

No arguments woeful today but up against a team on a similar run next week. Two previous games performance wise were good so no need for the usual mass panic.
No surprise to see the usual posters back in amongst it after a convincing defeat really makes their sad little weekend complete.

For me, Pieters is the embodiment of all things Dyche. Old(ish), experienced, workhorse, limited meat and two veg player. Simply, what other PL manager would have gone anywhere near him ?
