Post by Safron » Sat Nov 02, 2019 5:02 pm

If things don't change,we are cannon fodder, poorer than last year , with Hart in goal

We are getting worse every game.

We desperately need Wood back. And Hendrick in midfield.
Cork and Rodriguez are shot

If we played the same starting 11 that we did today, we'd go down for sure. Fortunately there's players who didn't start that should be starting or will be starting when back from injury.

Brady and Lowton should be getting nowhere near our first team.

So you mean

Bardsley Tarks Mee Taylor
Hendrick Cork Westwood McNeil
Wood Barnes

Only other option is Lennon starts.

I don’t know about fodder but we are in a relegation fight. We look poor to me with J Rod up front and Cork in the middle. I thought we were poor last week by our standards. We need Wood in for sure.

We need DD in midfield ASAP to give Cork the support he needs , wouldn’t surprise if Lennon gets a sniff if and when DD gets going either

Christ, yes today was poor but absolutely no need to start panicking. Might give us a kick like it did against Everton...

Although lowton didn't stop the balls in, from what I saw in real time it was pieters getting dragged in to the centre following the ball too much for first 2 goal...not seen replays or 3rd goal.

But I might be wrong.

The majority of us want Taylor back in. This surely suggests he's now back in. It's a good thing that he came on overall.

In a relegation fight?
That's why our first target every single season is the magical 40 points, much to the dismay of numerous people on this forum.
It's the same for over half the league, they're all striving to hit 40 points as early as they can in the season.

Probably about 12 teams involved in a relegation fight.

Relegation fodder no,in a potential dogfight most certainly,as are many others.

Relegation fodder is someone like Norwich, who we've already beaten convincingly.

Look I'll be honest and I said this in summer too, I don't think we're going down this season. But every transfer window leaves us with more and more that eventually is going to need sorting. And I do fear that before long we're going to find ourselves in need of about 3-4 first XI players. And that's when I'll start panicking.

Lowton was the best of our back four today imo
But only marginally

Well I thought that he was by far the worst. All 3 goals came from down their left. His passing (and I use that term very loosely) was atrocious. How he stayed on and Pieters was hooked I'll never know!

The thing is it's a home game against a side we should be attacking. I expect Lowton to start, but on the opposite side bring Taylor in. And I would also stick with Lowton for this game.

Start panicking then as next summer 90% of team will be in their 30's

Agree he was awful first two goals came from balls down his wing to add to his mistake last week. Bardsley and Taylor back in next week.

Aside from Norwich for whom there is no realistic hope it's more wide-open than it has been for some time and of course we are (as almost always) one of the contenders.

Sean's experience in steering us clear of stormy waters is again likely to be invaluable. In the end it will come down to the mangers best equipped to guide their respective clubs clear of danger. However well they appear to be doing in November promoted clubs and their inexperienced (PL) managers will be in the mix right until the end.

Lowton has been poor for a very long while now.

Bardsley was brought in for him last season after a series of bad showings, and although he appeared to be better at the start of this season, his form has taken a nose dive again.

We should have taken the opportunity in the summer to recruit a new right back. Bardsley back in whilst we wait for the next window

Apart from bringing in McNeil we haven't moved on at all. Just can't seem to improve the team. We've spent money but none of the signings have improved us. Struggling now.

As mentioned many a time, firstly I want the player to do their job, whether thsts a GK, CB or full back. I'd sacrifice and attacking threat from our full backs for a clean sheet.

At the moment both fullbacks are costing us goals.
That needs to stop

very bad form indeed to just leave opposing attacking players completely unmarked, that's what happened this aft.
Amateurish defending, and it has proved costly. Can't allow that to continue or we've had it.

And like 99% of this messageboard, you ignore the opposition when selecting a team. You need to start taking that into consideration. Not everything is equal.

You don't just pick someone regardless. Bardsley will be much more suited vs Man City. I totally expect SD to give Lowton more time and it wouldn't surprise me if he starts for the next 3 games but bring Taylor back in. It does make sense.

Regardless of opposition, you cannot make the mistakes we have made today and last week, they were basic errors that players in league 1 and 2 shouldn't make.

Passing 15 yards to a team mate isn't/shouldn't be hard work

Lowton vs Bardsley. All that debate says to me is that we need a new, younger, more physical right back. Wonder if we're still interested in that Maehle at Genk. Wonder if we've identified someone different. Either way, we need to act within the next two windows at the latest.

You are seriously clueless if you're serious with your comment there? Have a look at pieters for the first 2 goals. The first one he followed Ben mee's man thus allowing his own man to score with a tap in, the second he didn't once look over his shoulder to make himself aware of any potential danger leaving an unmarked tap in yet again. Couple that with his abject failure to support McNeil in anyway shape or form I'm not surprised he was taken off at HT. Even McNeil himself had a go at pieters at one point asking where he was in support of the attack. A truly shocking performance.
