We should legalise guns at football matches so these situations stop before getting out of hand

Re: Burnley fan v Burnley fan
I’m often puzzled to the logic that abusing the opposition players/fans equates to supporting/getting behind our players.

Agree with some of that, but kids they weren’t (most in the group I’d have as 18-25) and accusing someone as being a ‘Paedo’ is beyond immature.

Mentioned on social media how some of the abuse and our fans was disgusting yesterday and got shot to bits with the usual "I paid my money so I can do what I want"
Utterly embarrassing with the chants to Henderson too who rightly gave some back at the end

I have had reasonable success when 'ordering' a sit down, in a tone suggesting there is not an alternative. That has been after a polite request, if only one or two.Burtonwoodclaret wrote:That’s why I don’t go to away matches. Until we have some dedicated standing areas for those who want to stand and seats for those who can’t stand up for long periods this will continue. When it is a total stand, which is now usual, only stewards have a chance and they don't care....despite the safety issues.
Yesterday, I could just see where our goal was but when the balls went from left to right, in that first half, the 2 goals I assumed would be goals. Did not see the ball going in until MOTD.
Had we been sat, the pitch would have been clearly visible.

If you ask some people to "sit down" you get abuse m8 so we pick and choose our away games.Burtonwoodclaret wrote:That’s why I don’t go to away matches. As you have suggested there should be areas for those of us that wish to sit can do so, without suffering the idiot bell ends who have no interest in the match just abusing the players *and us fans that want to see a game of football)

On the other hand, the Burnley fans who travelled on the train to and from Manchester were very well behaved and a credit to our club.Rileybobs wrote:Special mention too for the rabble of mouth breathers chanting offensive songs and acting aggressively on the morning train from Leeds which was full of families and kids.

What a depressing thread
Sorting out the rules about standing / persistent standing would at least make it clear whether you’re allowed to stand or not

Re: Burnley fan v Burnley fan
It's a pretty unpleasant experience following Burnley away sometimes due to some absolute numb skulls.
Also had an incident during a home match recently where a supporter left as we went 3-0 down v Chelsea and as he passed an elderly fan they said something along the lines of "yeah, off you go".... and this supporter (in his 30's) started screaming and shouting in the elderly man's face. Noses literally touching.
Maybe the older chap shouldn't have said anything (I'm sure he won't next time)....but the intimidating behaviour that followed was uncalled for and unsavoury.

Re: Burnley fan v Burnley fan
Trouble is, it's difficult to reason with people these days, due mainly to the amount of powder they are sticking up their nose combined with the beer.
Almost everyone is on it these days, we are in the middle of an epidemic. Went to the dogs last nite in Manchester and I lost count of the amount of times I went for a pee only to see two or three lads coming out of the traps... exactly the same at the footy. Bit sad really.
They are too stupid to realise that people don't need to see them sniffing it to know they are on it. It's quite obvious - it shows quite clearly in their **** attitude.

That chanting was disgraceful yesterday and clearly upset the Blades' goalkeeper. It was absolutely shameful.jdrobbo wrote:I was close to 30-40 ‘fans’ who for entire duration of the second half, repeatedly chanted ‘paedo’ at goalkeeper Dean ‘Hendo’ Henderson. It was absolutely pathetic and in no way funny or lighthearted. In fact, in light of everything going on in the game where that is concerned (see Crewe Alex. for starters), I found it offensive. One guy with a kid turned round and had a go at a lad for repeatedly shouting at it. The lad, possibly only in his late teens, laughed in the guys face, hurled abuse and basically said ‘others are singing it, why target me? Why should I stop?’ before starting up the chant again. Some Burnley fans are a disgrace
Last season at Palace, I was physically threatened by a so called Burnley fan, unfortunately not enough evidence to prosecute and I can promise you, otherwise, I would have done.

Another away game, another story.
Itd be nice if our own club assisted their own fans regard some sort of seating order/options.
It really isn't that hard and would vastly reduce incidents.
* please dont quote or respond if you're going to tow out the party line. The rule of "the order we sell is strictly mandatory" still has block to block flexibility, it just takes a little organising at our end.
Yet know one seems to want to listen never mind help.
Let's hope these new supporter boards/groups deals with these issues, because this sort of thing is exactly what should be in the agenda.

If everyone had to visit the Ticket Office to purchase tickets it could be possible to offer seats at the front for fans who want/need to sit. However, as the majority of tickets are probably sold online I'm not sure just how the system could facilitate this. Any suggestions? Also, whilst I'm aware of some games where the away fans are given the online facility to pick their seats from the home club's away section seating plan, I'm not aware of any club which offers fans the option of guaranteed sitting seats. Does anyone know of any? It's all well and good highlighting the standing/seating issue but probably easier said than done to resolve.MACCA wrote:Another away game, another story.

Re: Burnley fan v Burnley fan
We had some drunken idiots behind us at Villa and they were in the 35- 55 category. The older guy behind me was ****** and kept leaning on me to stand up. I told him to stop it and sort himself out. He couldn’t follow the play and continually got all the decisions wrong. The younger one just effed and jeffed at every decision and equally had no idea. We were on row B and everyone in front of us stood up the whole game. That meant everyone had to stand.because the front row were up. So my girlfriend couldn’t see the game and we stood for over 90 minutes. I decided after that we would review whether to keep going away.
Fortunately yesterday despite the dire performance we were in a dickhead free zone. So, for now we’ll carry on.
As someone mentioned earlier the further away from Burnley seems to proportionally thin out the idiots.
It’s worrying and something that is definitely putting us off.

Always seems a hard one to understand on the standing issue .
Look would it be that hard to split the away end to sitting or standing . A to H sitting I to Z standing you log on and choose what you want .
Now if you cant get what you want then tough as first come first served so sit when you have to stand when you don't .
On the international front following Ireland i have seen so many people bitching about this . In the home games i am in the standing section " 114 " where everyone stands simple really .

Not sure they can do that when it's against safety rules to stand, if clubs encouraged standing I guess their safety certificate could be removedTribesmen wrote:Always seems a hard one to understand on the standing issue .

The problem with your suggestion is that away fans aren't usually given the option of having a seating plan to choose from, they're just allocated seats. I've seen very few games where away fans have been offered this (eg Brighton fans were at Villa). I don't know if the away club has to request this facility from the home club or if home clubs proactively offer it and the away club can say yes or know. Also, a factor may be non-compatability of home and away clubs IT systems.

I’d guess you’ve all got cameras on your phones. Film them and send it to the club, with seat numbers. The club will sort it. They get nothing from away gates and would rather not have the clubs loyal fans harrassed by these lowlifes, I’d imagine.

Simple way to sort this, introduce standing areas back in grounds.
All seater stadium legislation was passed on the back of Hilsborough, the info used has turned out to bre lies, and misinformation. Additionally, football fans in general are a totally different breed to the ones in the 80's and 90's.
Club's struggle to resolve this due to legislation set out, the government and Fa etc need to finally pull their fingers out their @rses, and the match day experience will improve for everyone.

PLEASE NOTE: Blocks 1,2, 3 in James Hargreaves Lower may have a risk of supporters standing for longer periods of exciting events during the match. Therefore we would not recommend young children or supporters with mobility issues to purchase in this area.
I don't see any reason why a similar warning and sales policy could not be applied to away ticket sales. It just needs the club to play ball.

If you search for “Dean Henderson Snapchat” on google you’ll find the origin of this chant. Seems he shared a “risqué” video on snapchat that got taken out of context with a girls father posting something on twitter complaining about him. Seems the post was actually to fan account 15000 subscribers. Probably not clever with the current climate. Yesterday though I think the poor performance in the first half meant people were just trying to let off some steam and trying to put him off.KlyBfc wrote:Not sure if this was the same incident as there certainly weren’t 30 or 40 in the exact area (maybe spread across) shouting. But I was very very close to a teen who kept shouting it, which I agree was a bit pathetic, pointless and annoying. A Guy in front turned round and had a go at him and though he had a point he was aggressive and threatening to the young lad to the extent an older chap intervened to try to calm the situation down, which it did eventually. In my opinion the guy could have easily handled and approached it better and his aggressive response resulted in others joining in for a few moments to try and wind the aggressive guy up.
I saw it as immature kid trying to be funny and an older burnley fan annoyed at the whole situation (game and misguided support). A mix of an awful performance, close away games and beer certainly seem to bring out the worst in some people.

Got lucky yesterday as I took my lad and everyone around us was sound. But not surprised to hear these stories, you knew this was going to be one of those days for certain sections of our support. Seen it at Barnsley before and several other grounds at just the right distance to get hammered on the way there but not too far to put off the 'lads' day out crowd. It'll all be back to normal at the next one.
My only real complaint yesterday was getting a seat facing the pitch. Anyway, fair do's to Sheffield Utd, their team walloped us fair and square and their fans were all a lot less gloating and cocky than I'd have been on the way back. Although not a good time to be a South Yorkshire claret this week.

Re: Burnley fan v Burnley fan
I'm now glad I didn't go. Awful result/performance and so-called Burnley fans acting like bellends, even towards their own supporters. What a way to spend a Saturday afternoon, eh.
As for cocaine - it turns dullards into boorish arseholes.

Cocaine is such a glamorous drug. I’m sure it sprinkles a little of the golden age of Hollywood onto a trip to Sheffield on a diesel multiple unit.

Ive started to think just let them carry on sniffing what brains they have out.bobinho wrote:Trouble is, it's difficult to reason with people these days, due mainly to the amount of powder they are sticking up their nose combined with the beer.
I cant believe how stupid (and sad) it is. But its ok. Its not addictive. It doesnt harm anyone. And isnt as bad as beer....
But. Like with drunk drivers its usually others who end up suffering in the short term.

Stopped doing that long ago. You end up first up. Last home. A car full of cans and whatever else. 15 **** stops. And usually no contribution to fuel let alone cleaning of the car. **** em TC.Top Claret wrote:There were a lot of drunken Burnley fans yesterday.
