I know it's first season but it's turning into a complete farce. It will stop people going on if they don't sort it out quickly.

Something has to be done to stop the idiots that make up these rules from killing the game they have clearly never played themselves.

A coordinated protest at all premier league grounds would make a statement.

Absolutely laughable. Delaying gamed for so long for decisions still to be wrong.

Complete joke.

It's certainly having a negative impact on the game. Should be scrapped.

If you have to watch something over and over again and still aren't sure then its blatantly not a "clear and obvious error".

The problem they have now is people, me included, don't know what's a foul anymore, Leicester goal disallowed for a touch and no pen yesterday for similar on Rodriguez. What is and what isn't handball

Son sent off. Horrendous injury to Gomes but he should be booked for the challenge not tge outcome.
He actually looked to distressed at what he’d done to continue.
Not for the squeamish.

Get used to it folks --it is here to stay. They will just keep changing the Laws of the Game to accommodate whatever they decide to do next.
The game is goosed!

Not a Red card regardless of the injury. Referee produced Yellow card, got caught up in the incident and then overreacted.

The injury has come from the collision with Aurier.

Yea, Gomes had elbowed Son on the nose less than a minute earlier. The outcome was not caused by the tackle but by a later collision.

Son just pushed him, was no malice etc, was the awkward fall / clash with Aureo ( sp) that broke it.

How VAR hasn't looked at it, is mind boggling.
He had yellow out, saw the injury and thought ouch I'll change it to a red...

There has been a lot of bad stuff going on and the VAR has not helped. Lot of head injuries and off the ball stuff. Richarlison especially has been the lead wind up merchant.

Or has he switched to red based on what he’s been told by VAR?

It’s definitely wrong but Atkinson hadn’t gone for the red initially. Either way though, that looks a horrible, horrible injury.

I'd hope not, as VAR must have seen what we all did, and that was purely a push.

If VAR said change it, then Taylor needs sacking

VAR is an absolute disgrace. Stonewall penalty for spurs earlier for a start not to mention why the hell son isnt back on the pitch having clearly seen it wasnt him that made the tackle. VAR is si backwards its untrue

Agree with post 27 from FCBurnley. Been a niggly scruffy & game with Richarlson much to the fore in terms of diving and giving lip and stomping about like a spoiled 12 year old. The delays for VAR taking ages then just sticking with the refs decisions hasn't helped at all.
I thought Son being dived into by a falling defender and the handball from Alli were both pens by today's standards but neither given.
Rules/process around VAR needs clarifying urgently, it's not working anything like as well as the review systems at rugby or cricket.
Son's red looked to be a reaction to the seriousness of the injury rather than the actual contact.

VAR again showing the officials as worse than useless.

I don't watch rugby but it can't work like cricket because all decisions in cricket are objective. How the football authorities believe technology is suitable for subjective decisions is beyond me. It's just passing it from one referee's opinion to another's.

It's true, the American media have never played the game.
That doesn't stop the PL clubs accepting their multi million pound deals to introduce VAR.

Some interesting commentary about the Gomez injury on 5 Live, at first it sounded as if Son had a bit of the red mist and that he caused the injury.
The attitude to the incident seemed to soften a bit later :?

We're making a dogs dinner of this VAR.

Just put the replays on the big screen and let the ref decide.

PGMOL have come out and said it was the challenge that directly resulted in the terrible injury, therefore it's endangering the safety of a player and a red card.

It's been an interesting weekend for Martin Atkinson with his VAR calls yesterday in Liverpool's game and then his visit to Merseyside today.
