Re: Referee confirmed for West Ham game
Expect everything positive for us to be overturned on Saturday by our chum Mason. VAR is a nice little insurance policy to ensure we get nowt

Re: Referee confirmed for West Ham game
Is Mason fit enough to reach for the remote control or will it be beyond his grasp?

Friend and Mason individually do not do us any favours, on past performance. Together, it sounds a lethal combination.

Has anyone actually seen the pitch side VAR screen? Serious question, I have no idea where it even is.

Side of the pitch, I think.Burnleyareback2 wrote:Has anyone actually seen the pitch side VAR screen? Serious question, I have no idea where it even is.

Perhaps it's on the side of a different pitch?

Re: Referee confirmed for West Ham game
Keep asking people where the 'lesser spotted' pitchside monitor is but the reply is always the same,"I think it's over by the -------
but I know we have one". Anyway it's of little consequence, as the refs have, apparently , been instructed not to use them.
I was watching the Bundesliga highlights show yesterday and it's striking, just how athletic and ' youthful looking ' their refs are, when comparing them with the 'usual suspects' here.

I wonder if football fans and players in Germany give a bit more respect to their referees from the top level down to the grass roots.Helmshore Claret wrote:I was watching the Bundesliga highlights show yesterday and it's striking, just how athletic and ' youthful looking ' their refs are, when comparing them with the 'usual suspects' here.
I cant see why many people in the UK would want to aspire to be a ref when you get dogs abuse and sometimes violence at grass roots and the vilification goes all the way through the game to the very top
If you want better refs then don't make them pariahs of the game cos as i've said before when it comes to refs and football you reap what you sow

Re: Referee confirmed for West Ham game
Thanks for only using half my post to make your point. However, I am more than a little bemused that the abuse which you say refs suffer, should cause any of them to want to turn out looking in poor physical shape, more especially those operating at the top level. In a post I made earlier this week I said that Atkinson was just about to make the right decision regarding the 'Son foul'Devils_Advocate wrote:I wonder if football fans and players in Germany give a bit more respect to their referees from the top level down to the grass roots.

until a combination of player histrionics ,crowd and VAR influenced him to produce a red.Since my post, the FA have rescinded the red card but that does not make things right as Spurs lost 2pts. I made the correct call from an I pad on Sky Go so maybe you could dig my post out and recommend me for Stockley Park duty. On the 'grass roots' thing I deplore the disgusting abuse which refs suffer, I was always referring my criticism to highly paid professionals.

I only used part of your post cos it was the only part relevant to the point I was making. I wasnt interested in the rest of your post.Helmshore Claret wrote:Thanks for only using half my post to make your point. However, I am more than a little bemused that the abuse which you say refs suffer, should cause any of them to want to turn out looking in poor physical shape, more especially those operating at the top level. In a post I made earlier this week I said that Atkinson was just about to make the right decision regarding the 'Son foul'

You have completely missed the point I was making and whist im sure you wont agree I'll at least explain it so you can understand
The more negative we make the experience of being a ref then the less people want to do it. The less people taking up refereeing the the smaller pool of talent we have to choose from and therefore the standard will not be as good.
Just maybe a lot more Germans want to be refs and therefore to reach the top you have to be a lot better in every department including fitness
Hope that clears things up for you and you can at least now object to the actual point I was making

Re: Referee confirmed for West Ham game
Mason hates us, he will do everything he can to make us lose.
Watch for controversial VAR on Saturday.
