What price Dwight ?

I've been looking for a post regarding growing interest in Dwight McNeil but surprisingly there doesn't appear to be one so with Leicester, Wolves and Everton in the frame what price can we ask. SD has always said he will go on to do big things but I hope it isn't until next season.

Our value of him should be greater than any club are prepared to pay. He's such a difference maker in this team and has his best years ahead of him. Let's start at £50m (which would be too much for Leicester and Wolves)

Realistically I think we will settle at £30m and be kicking ourselves in a few years time.

In todays' market I would say about 35 - 40 million but probably worth 25 as he is still miles off players like Maddison

Too early for him to move yet, needs another couple of years at Turf Moor playing regularly, bench warming at Leicester, Wolves and, my God, Everton would do him no good.

We are not in the position that we were in some years ago when we had to sell to survive. McIlroy, Coates, O'Neil, Thomas, James... the list goes on. Keep him here. Build a team around him. One day, he will play for England, let's make sure he does that whilst still weaving his magic at t'Turf.

Realistically he can’t be worth more than £20m surely? He’s not been anywhere near as good as he was last season.

The best thing we can do for Dwight is let him develop under the radar.

Always talking about how much we can get for him won't do him or us any favours.

Although the manager does keep speaking up of him, lets hope it's not just to sell him.

Burnley's normal ceiling seems to be £30m. Once somebody offers that we'll fold

at that price (with his potential) you would want a 50% sell on plus all the extras for appearances etc

No need to sell. We couldn’t replace the talent and potential for £30 million. He will become a better player by developing here and playing games. You get the feeling above this and Garlick will be getting the fork lift out to make a space in the vault for the cash.

What he is worth now and what he is worth in the future and what he is worth to us is all completely different.

One things for sure. IMO we have lost players who were more crucial or even with more potential and always done ok. Trippier, Keane, Heaton and arguably even Gray. So I wouldn’t be nervous.

Would obviously be better if he stayed. And we ideally need his replacement before we even entertain selling him. But I’d not be concerned if we sold him or anyone else for the right price. I would be concerned though that we need more youth.

He’s been missing Taylor. They had developed a great understanding and one of the reasons I was surprised SD made Pieters his number1 for the slot.

Realistically his agent's demands will outstrip our offers in the near future.

He is quite a bit behind others like Maddison but would no doubt develop better in a more open attack minded framework.

The comment about tracking back is shared amongst a lot of people I have been at the game with recently.

£30m could get us two decent players :?

Dwight is as good has anyone else out there. I would put him in the 40 million bracket once he gets the support of a proper wing back like Charlie Taylor.

This season has been difficult for Dwight who has had little support from his left full back, although it will have improved his game in the long term and made him more independent

At the moment I'd say he is priceless to us. The lad is our only real attacking spark and threat from open play. Unfortunately opposition teams have sussed that out and he's getting a lot more attention.

His current price would be 30 to 40 million. Could potentially be a good deal more consistent given time or could flop. If he develops well then could be worth double....if not then a fraction of 30-40 million....for me if someone offered north of 30 million then thats fair enough and wouldnt blame club for selling....his position in the team has coincided with woods goals so a good replacement would need to have been lined up if a deal did happen.

Dont get this he is missing taylor line.

Without taylor his stats are almost identical to last season.

And the man behind him has contributed towards more goals than Taylor has in his entire time here.

Had it not been for him coming in, we'd have been relegated, so I would take that into account.

As a poster above mentioned, his value to us is £100+ million and no club would pay it.

as long as we remain in the PL he would do himself a huge favour by staying with us until he has reached a higher level. Very inconsistent, zero tracking back at Sheff Utd for example - will no doubt go on to be a very very good player though given the playing time. He won't get that at the other clubs mentioned. Can't put a sensible value on him because he is English !

With the exception of the Chelsea game, I'm afraid to say that IMO the lad doesn't appear to have pushed on this season IMO. Unsure of reason. Not having Taylor alongside him is an probability. He also appears to be more heavily marked this term. Re price I would assume that Burnley would have insisted on a high 'buy out' clause when he signed his new contact but again thats only common sense.

He will go for 15m - but that is not what he worth,
He has only one good foot, he is fast but not electric, he has some moves but is physically weak.
We rely him on him to play a defensive role which he is not suited for. If he was given the freedom to roam he woudl be a more a productive player.
Probably the best team for him to go is Leicester as he would fit their playing style.
But he will end up at Everton in January I suspect.

In the current market he’s worth probably £15-25M but to us he’s worth £100m+ given our attack solely relies on him atm. Abit like Sigurdsson to Everton, people were shocked at the fee but in the end he was worth more than £50M to Swansea because he was keeping them up and they dropped when they sold for £50M.

Put him in Leicester's team and he'd look a completely different player. Not his fault he's been shackled by our rigid framework. Needs better footballers around him to link up with.

You are buying potential as well as a kid who is playing well in the Premier at 19.

Jan window. 50-60 million

Summer 40-50 million.

West Ham have apparently valued Declan Rice at £100 million, to hopefully scare off other clubs.
Burnley need to develop the same mindset.

If a club wants Dwight, chuck a high price on him, £60 million plus and that ensures we get a decent price because it's all about potential and Dwight has bags of it.

We have given players away too cheaply in the past .
However Dwight is worth upwards of £50m in todays market
We need to put on a hugh valuation to put off buyers
and build a team around him not sell off our star

You can’t just stick huge valuations on players. If the club say £50m and no one bids, then what? His contract will run out and he’d be free to walk. How could the club offer him a contract extension that a £50m player warrants?

Clubs do that when there is firm interest in a player and they know fully well the demands will be met there or thereabouts. Dwight simply hasn’t done enough to warrant such a high valuation.

It's a seller's market though for English players.

Plus Dwight has a contract until 2023 with a further 12 month option, so we can absolutely hold out for a huge fee.

Then he stays with us. There's nothing to say he would turn down a new contract and leave on a free.

But the club would be openly saying he’s a £50m footballer. He’d have every right to warrant a wage to match which we couldn’t possibly offer.
