Question about loan players
If a player is on a season loan can they be bought in the January Window by another club i.e. not the one where the player is on loan.
The reason I ask is I have been told by an unrealiable source that we are looking at Andy King currently on loan at Rangers

Re: Question about loan players
Depends on the terms of his loan agreement I guess. If someone has agreed a season long loan with a loan fee etc then that would be a contract that could not be broken without agreement of both parties - they could do a deal to release him to sell to another club I suppose.brexit wrote:If a player is on a season loan can they be bought in the January Window by another club i.e. not the one where the player is on loan.

As for signing Andy King - hope this is not true. Not seen how he has played for Rangers but the fact he went up to play in that league does not bode well. We need to be looking at better and younger than him.

Re: Question about loan players
A standard loan deal will have a call back option in January.
Re: Question about loan players
Has he actually been playing up at Rangers? Didn't realise he was up there. Unless Drinkwater is going back I don't think it's a position we'll be looking to strengthen anyway.

Re: Question about loan players
A quick look shows he has only made 5 appearances for Rangers, 2 league, 2 league cup and 1 Europa league.
Don't know why this is but if it is because he isn't good enough for them, then he certainly isn't good enough for us.

Would be a signing which highlights how much we struggle in the market

Re: Question about loan players
Andy King was a decent player 4yrs ago but then so was Scottie Arfield and I wouldn't want him back either
Re: Question about loan players
In case we find the next Michael Keane type loan signing and bag ourselves £25m profitdougcollins wrote:My question about loan players is why do we bother?

Going off his previous history he's probably injured.Goobs wrote:A quick look shows he has only made 5 appearances for Rangers, 2 league, 2 league cup and 1 Europa league.

Other than Keane, who we tried to buy first anyway, and was always a loan to buy, then there has been very little in terms of impact, quality ir value for money.
But Sean's style and he says so himself isn't condusive to the loan market

Come on boss, you know how it works. We ignore the ones that worked out for us and highlight the ones that didn't

Re: Question about loan players
You could at least limit it to SD's tenure.
Not saying we haven't done well in the past, it just hasn't been too good under Dyche.

Agree. Barton was useless.Goobs wrote:A quick look shows he has only made 5 appearances for Rangers, 2 league, 2 league cup and 1 Europa league.

Re: Question about loan players
Barton was good enough for Rangers he just had a bust up which stopped him from playing, but of course you knew that.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Agree. Barton was useless.
If King has been doing the same hence his lack of game time then you may have a point, however my original point still stands.

Re: Question about loan players
Pretty obvious really, we sign them to act as cover as we have seen in recent years with Chalobah, Flanagan, Bamford & NKoudou.dougcollins wrote:My question about loan players is why do we bother?
Re: Question about loan players
To be honest if that’s why we have signed Drinkwater it’s expensive cover, when we had David Jones who could have been signed to fulfill the cover roleClaretTony wrote:Pretty obvious really, we sign them to act as cover as we have seen in recent years with Chalobah, Flanagan, Bamford & NKoudou.

Re: Question about loan players
I didn't include Drinkwater because I think he came in because we knew we were not going to have Defour. Unfortunately, for the obvious reasons, that one hasn't quite worked out as yet.Dy1geo wrote:To be honest if that’s why we have signed Drinkwater it’s expensive cover, when we had David Jones who could have been signed to fulfill the cover role
